Post by: snapey on June 22, 2009, 05:11:09 pm
How do chaps,

Out of interest how long does it take for your A/C to start blasting freezing cold air from the point it's pressed on the dash?

Sometimes mine blows out cold air instantly, other times never.

I fear my compressors knackered.

Mine used to work quickly every time.
The compressor just packed in one day with no warning. after the new compressor was fitted lots of cold air almost instantly.
8 months later and it now takes about 5-10 mins to cool down.
Im hoping it just needs topping up

Whilst not a GTI (a GT TDi) my 4 and a bit year old example uses exactly the same climate control as the GTI. From a first press, I guess it takes 15-25 seconds or so before really cold air come out. It seems to be the same amount of time every time.

Yeah takes a good few seconds to kick in. Never noticed it coming on after thirty seconds.

Confirms my suspicions that the the garage that's supposed to have sorted it on Friday are completely hopeless, took 10 minutes for it to kick in today after being in 4 times to get it fixed.

"Yes Mr Snape, everything is perfect"...... I think a complaint will be going to VW with regards to their hopeless staff because it's starting to cost me a lot of money now going back and forth to get issues resolved that they haven't fixed.
