Well after several years of Golf ownership, the time has come for a change
I picked up My new car, felt sad to drive off and leave my car
the replacement is a Skoda Octavia Vrs Estate CR170

Very nice Ed!
-
Nice car Eddie. Did you spec it or was it already made? Better to put the mods on after! :happy2:
-
it was already built, i did want Silver but there weren't any that had the rain sensor or maxidot. (both of which would have been a pain to retrofit)
Have to say, I'm liking the blue more now. would have looked even nicer with tinted rear glass and silver roof rails
-
The colour really suits it. Sounds like you've got your 'to do' list going already!
-
Very nice Ed im liking that a lot!!!!!
great upgrades to an already great looking and specked car
scott :happy2:

Congratulations Ed!
Great choice of colour. :happy2:

awesome work Eddie, it cant have been cheap to retrofit that wheel, would like to do it in my VRS FL, but cant bring myself to spend that much on some buttons, lol

tbh it was a lot cheaper than on the golf

Are you going to map this Eddie? Is the ECU locked?
-
Are you going to map this Eddie? Is the ECU locked?
i don't know, but i did look on the bluefin website and it said that you need to visit one of their retailers.
-
Yeah it a bugger with these.... I took my mate (andy who bought the 7P6) up to alex to get REVO but it wouldnt do it, so its an ECU out job and REVO probe tool, which Alex has just got. :happy2:
-
Love the colour of your car Ed-would thing the ecu islocked out
-
Are you going to map this Eddie? Is the ECU locked?
i don't know, but i did look on the bluefin website and it said that you need to visit one of their retailers.
Will be the same as mine won't it Ed, where they remove the tricore ECU from the car and unlock & remap it as part of the new process they've adopted for the MY10+ locked ECU's?
That's what Revo and others have told me needs doing at least.
-
^^^ sounds right pete.... the REVO probe removes the ecu lock. :happy2:
-
Nice car Eddie.
I'm also running a FL vRS wagon and I have a new one on order too.
I've got a MFSW in the garage ready to fit on the new car (like yours, mine's a manual so retro-fit is the only option for the mf wheel) from skodatiele, plus a columbus and a shark roof aerial. Great minds etc..!
Do you have a partnumber for the carbon-look dash surround for the columbus? I'm going to need one of those for mine. Where did you get yours? How much?
BTW the skoda mirror caps are not the same as the audi - similar but the repeater is a different shape.
cheers
Rob
mine: http://www.pistonheads.com/members/showcar.asp?carId=115360
-
Trim part number is 1Z0 858 069 FB UV9
cost about £50
I got it from the dealer, I could get the silver one from my supplier but he didn't have the carbon-look one
Have you got the steering controller for the wheel? There are 2 types and you won't know which one till you get the car
That is a shame, I was looking at adding S3 aluminium covers, maybe the repeater can be fitted too. (just need to find a cheap audi mirror to have a look at)
I'm also adding Electric folding mirrors, have the passenger side one already.
Nice looking estate you have, would have liked xenons
-
Thanks for that part number :)
Yes I got the controller too - Ales @ Skodatiele tells me the one he's sold me is the right one - if it's not he's going to have to swap it over
-
some have a controller ending 549 and others have 569. My one was a 549
If you need parts check with me, I can get them. although a bit late now
-

where are you based? I will need someone to fit my wheel for me..
-
I'm in Great Yarmouth
-
I don't think these ecu are protected on the 2.0tsi, but i believe they are on the diesel version, i certainly have no issues using my Shark Sts
-
I'm in Great Yarmouth
shame - that's abour 4 hr drive for me which is a bit too far.
Ditto Daz's comments about the ecu - not aware of any tsi with protection.
-
Very nice Ed, trying to get my mate to look at one exactly like yours rather than a 5-6 year old A4 estate.

To fit the camera
Columbus Nav (amundsen plus has the same input plug socket, but doesn't display an image)
Scirocco Bumper Camera kit
The hardest bit was cutting the square hole for the camera holder, wiring was easy (Reverse light, 12v and Ground)
-
The displaying of the parking sensor, is that software in the RNS or the box from the parking sensors that allows that?

Well done Ed. :congrats:
I've a few questions for you:-
I'd love to know how long it took you - how difficult you rated (1 easy 10 hard)?
Was there any adaption required - Did you bleed it on your own?
How did the pedal feel post change ( spongy or hard) finally, what travel after the install( same, more or less)?
-

How did the pedal feel post change ( spongy or hard) finally, what travel after the install( same, more or less)?
I went to a local garage, they allowed me to use their ramp
Took 3 hours from driving in to the garage and me driving it out
on a scale of 1-10 about 4
I got them to help with the bleeding of the brakes
plenty of lights on the dash
Had to do 4 different lots of Basic settings
the pump was Used and it wouldn't let me code it till all the faults had been sorted
pedal feels ok, done a couple of emergency stops afterwards and ABS kicks in ok
-
Well Done Ed.........if only it could :driver: itself!!!
-
Well done Ed. :congrats:
I've a few questions for you:-
I'd love to know how long it took you - how difficult you rated (1 easy 10 hard)?
Was there any adaption required - Did you bleed it on your own?

You still control the pedals and gear selection, the system does the steering. You just have to be consistent and don't rush

Hi SI. Do you have any links on how to retrofit autodimming door mirrors
