Title: Eddie-NL's Octavia Vrs Estate
Post by: Eddie-NL on November 16, 2012, 05:44:19 pm
Well after several years of Golf ownership, the time has come for a change

I picked up My new car, felt sad to drive off and leave my car

the replacement is a Skoda Octavia Vrs Estate CR170

Title: Re: My new Car
Post by: Eddie-NL on November 29, 2012, 08:05:15 pm
it was already built, i did want Silver but there weren't any that had the rain sensor or maxidot. (both of which would have been a pain to retrofit)

Have to say, I'm liking the blue more now. would have looked even nicer with tinted rear glass and silver roof rails

Will be the same as mine won't it Ed, where they remove the tricore ECU from the car and unlock & remap it as part of the new process they've adopted for the MY10+ locked ECU's?

That's what Revo and others have told me needs doing at least.

Nice car Eddie.

I'm also running a FL vRS wagon and I have a new one on order too.

I've got a MFSW in the garage ready to fit on the new car (like yours, mine's a manual so retro-fit is the only option for the mf wheel) from skodatiele, plus a columbus and a shark roof aerial.  Great minds etc..!

Do you have a partnumber for the carbon-look dash surround for the columbus?  I'm going to need one of those for mine.  Where did you get yours?  How much?

BTW the skoda mirror caps are not the same as the audi - similar but the repeater is a different shape.

cheers
Rob

Trim part number is 1Z0 858 069 FB UV9
cost about £50
I got it from the dealer, I could get the silver one from my supplier but he didn't have the carbon-look one

Have you got the steering controller for the wheel? There are 2 types and you won't know which one till you get the car

That is a shame, I was looking at adding S3 aluminium covers, maybe the repeater can be fitted too. (just need to find a cheap audi mirror to have a look at)

I'm also adding Electric folding mirrors, have the passenger side one already.

Nice looking estate you have, would have liked xenons

Thanks for that part number :)

Yes I got the controller too - Ales @ Skodatiele tells me the one he's sold me is the right one - if it's not he's going to have to swap it over

shame - that's abour 4 hr drive for me which is a bit too far.

To fit the camera

Columbus Nav (amundsen plus has the same input plug socket, but doesn't display an image)
Scirocco Bumper Camera kit
The hardest bit was cutting the square hole for the camera holder, wiring was easy (Reverse light, 12v and Ground)

Why haven't you fitted one  what is intergrated in door handle? No need for drilling.

Any idea why they don't use the setup used in the mk6? Far neater looking solution imo

Well done Ed.   :congrats:

I've a few questions for you:-

I'd love to know how long it took you - how difficult you rated (1 easy 10 hard)?

Was there any adaption required - Did you bleed it on your own?

How did the pedal feel post change ( spongy or hard) finally, what travel after the install( same, more or less)?

I went to a local garage, they allowed me to use their ramp

Took 3 hours from driving in to the garage and me driving it out
on a scale of 1-10 about 4

I got them to help with the bleeding of the brakes

plenty of lights on the dash
Had to do 4 different lots of Basic settings
the pump was Used and it wouldn't let me code it till all the faults had been sorted

pedal feels ok, done a couple of emergency stops afterwards and ABS kicks in ok
