Hi guys does anyone know if there is any difference between a late mk5 badge and a mk6 badge for the tailgate?have just got hold of a late 2005 tailgate badge which is raised.
I have a 2005 gt tdi and the badge is not raised or 3D as they say, would just like claffificationbetween mk5 late and mk6 both thanks

Early golfs had a much flatter type of badge which is more prome to whiteworm i think. The later ones, are raised and IMO look better

From the second half of 2005... So 56 They changed to the raised 3D badge which doesnt get affected by the whiteworm! :happy2:
-
Thanks guys, I realised that but my question is the late 2006 raised boot badge is it the same as the new mk6 boot badge.
-
Short answer, No. :happy2:
Different design and different shape as well (if your referring to the Chrome VW emblem). The whole unit/ mechanism is interchangeable with no problems but you can't stick a Mk6 VW chrome emblem on a Mk5 mechanism as its too curved.

Hope this helps.

^^^^ Your welcome! :drinking:

Also. I believe if you change from the 2005 version (flat) to a 3D version it may stick out a little. But it's not noticeable and it's all fine :) same with the mk6 badge
-
^^^^ Yes, if your referring to the 2 versions of units/mechanisms that belong to the Mk5 as they are also interchangeable but the 3D VW chrome emblem from the latter revised version of the Mk5 will not mount onto the original Mk5 "flat" version of the mechanism.
