Post by: ell.s on November 21, 2012, 09:18:50 pm
Well im new to this all this remap malarky having only owned N/A vw's in the past, and I have just purchased a mk5 gti and I've decided to have it remapped, my question is would my car still retain it's current mpg when just plodding around? i know when on WOT its going to be worse but as I do quite a bit on the m'way id like to retain the MPG I am currently getting. thanks for any help!

If you drive the same way with the map installed then you should see an improved mpg figure.

.
Only slightly imprioved mpg (2 or 3 mpg absolute max) and not enough to get too excited about - In other words, you don't remap power for economy reasons. Power and economy are not good bedmates! The remap's extra power will get you excited though. So prepare for a big drop for the worse in your mpg while you enjoy and get used to it - That's the reality.

Enjoy!  :driver:

....That's the key - There is no extra power without extra fuel consumption  :happy2:

Who is going to do your remap?

I know that! I had a Cooper s before this with a 17 reduced pulley jcw injectors etc it was running 210 hp and managed 23mpg even when driving really steady! I was going to book in at statlers Sheffield mate they have got 25% off at the minute.
