Title: New car :-)
Post by: Aparoon on November 23, 2012, 06:23:12 pm
Following my last thread on what cars / 350z's ... I'm getting a Impreza Sti. 2003 blob eye version in world rally blue. No need do comments about chavvyness etc im aware what they are haha, but drove it and loved it, and its a bargain IMO , and its completely standard which is why I chose it.

Just thought I'd post about it , looking forward to getting it and getting rinsed on fuel once again

 :surprised:

No stickers at all thankfully ! Seems to be a nice car, last owner was a 66yr old bloke who had it since 2008 and has done roughly 4k a year, all stamps from same Subaru garage and he's even carried out interim oil changes between scheduled services ...

Don't know whether to go stage one or leave it standard ??

Just stickered it up with my 80s fag sponsor selection whilst waiting for my fish chips and curry

Took a couple of pics on my phone earlier, after all it may never look that unmolested ever again...

Like it  :happy2:

I was playing round with the idea of getting an EVO6 Tommi Makinen a couple of weeks ago. Decided to stick with the gti in the end.

I think people who dont know anything about cars will think its chavy but people who do know will be able to tell thats a good one and appreciate it for what its capable of

There ok then pics , thought you said it was filthy, thought they'd been out ragging it

What are people's thoughts on black roof and bonnet scoop/ intake ? Got a feelin it'll look good.

And what about mapping ? It seemed plenty quick enough, can't imagine what it's be like with another 50-60hp

It was quite quiet with the original exhaust so thinking leave it like that.. Thinking leave it standard as it will be generally more reliable , and I want to do some track days. Just always so tempting to mod as I've remapped every car I've owned and its always such a big difference..

No love for the Barack roof then  :ashamed: haha

.
I can't think of a single Japanese car which I like the styling of but I appreciate what performance some of them offer. Nissan Pulsar GTI-R is the only one I would want. I have driven the Mitsu Evo X and it was an awesome drive but I hated the dashboard and interior.

if you start mapping these cars the bottom end is the weakest point

You can get them to carry so much speed through bends, that extra power really isn't a benefit - I'd leave it reliable and stealth.

Yeah the dash etc is sh*t... I think they look great in a daft way, theyre far from pretty though

Think ill just leave it alone then and just use it as it is.

Have you ever driven one on track tony ?

Last one - will winter tyres be worthwhile or will it be ok ? Ive never had a 4 wheel drive car

+1, I wouldn't go with a black roof and scoop either mate, will look a bit typically ricey and it's too lovely a colour to hide, plus imo the black roof thing has been done to death now...

I'd buy a set of bilsteins, some naughty pads for those lovely 6 pot Brembos, some track rubber then give it the bifters till you laugh yourself sick  :happy2:

they are good in the snow with normal tyres on but even betteer with all snow tyres on them--only down side is the tread of the tyre isn't got to be greater than 3 mm or it can cause problems in the diff--so don't get a unfixable puncture :surprised:

There are a few sets on ebay that seem reasonable, one benefit of 17s at least ...

The hawk eyes are nice, but most in the higher tax bracket which put me off. The idea was stay cheap haha ..

Yeah hawk eyes do look nice but I'd still go blob eye for my favourite impreza ever...wr1

Plus, all the Hawkeyes have the 2.5 motor which isn't as tuneable as the 2.0 and doesnt seem to pick up and rev as cleanly as the 2.0..
