Well just got an sd card through the post and loaded some albums on it, when I've come to put in in my RNS 510 and it sees the card but not any of the music, isn't there any particular format the files need to be in or way of getting the unit to see the music? Cheers! :happy2:
-
what format have you got them in then?
-
I will have to check but I believe they are mp3's but will have to check.
-
should be fine then even if in folders
-
They are in folders :/ ill have a look and post some pics of my files.
-
what size is your card and how old/what firmware is the 510 running if you know?
-
It's a 32gb card, how do I find out can I access it from the menu? Sorry only had the car less than a week :ashamed:
-
one obvious thing to check the button next to eject is it an I or a star.
if it allows you to see hold the setup button down for about 20 secs if it stops on AM FM then you can't find out, if it goes past AM FM to next screen then the firmware will be on there 4 digit number
32gb might be 2 big for the unit to read you see, can you try a 2 or a 4 first?
-
I've only got 2 32 gb cards unfortunately :( just been out by the car and took this there is an "I in the top corner and this is the version number.

thats really early firmware 1100 and you have a version B unit, i'm positive you can only use a 4gb card in it for now, you can update the firmware on the 510 at some point to allow bigger cards and for it to do other stuff but this will defo be your problem mate.
-
Ahh that sucks will my unit take the latest software? If so is there anyone on here that could sort me out or is it a case of download and burn? Cheers for the help
-

Hi, hope you don`t mind if I jump in here- I too just had my car this week, so does it mean if you can`t get past the AM FM screen I can`t find out about my 510 unit? I`d like to add bluetooth sometime.

you'll probably be able to add blue tooth no problem, if your can't get past am fm screen holding down the set up button, someone with vcds needs to change a zero to a 1 somewhere for it to display your firmware etc.
fyi is there a star or I button next to eject as early rns has I later from C ish onward has star, i had Bluetooth connected to my B unit no problems
-
Hi Si, thanks , just had a look, it has an I button. Will have to find someone ...
-
Talk to Eddie-NL on here he deals in all things rns plus bluetooth
-
will do. Thanks again...

Just to chime in guys...i too have a 'B' unit which was on an 11xx firmware and could only read 2GB SD card and didn't like the 32GB SDHC i tried to feed it...
However, having upgraded to a modified FW3810a, i can now report that the 32GB SDHC is fully recognised and this FW version has enabled access to a number of other features.
Hope this helps regarding giving some clarity?!
Cheers
