As above I used this today on our mk5 as the head lights were terrible! And this kit has brought the headlight back to life and makes the car look 100 times better! I looked at the YouTube video for a guide and I followed that but would recommend wetting the headlights during all stages as it works much better and is easier and doesnt clog the pads as much :driver:

Cracking results. How long did it take mate?
-
Were was the kit purchased from? As my headlights are atrocious & could do with a restoration

If you wet it at all stages you could probably do a headlight an hr, I got the kit from elite car care, but they are one eBay too
-
Excellent stuff, going to buy myself one of those after Xmas, great to see the results!
-
Great job you have done on them, this is another product i know of that might be of use

I can't see that restoring headlights that were as bad as mine, it might be good to put on them now to protect them though. I have given them a coat of collinite for now
-
Yes sorry you have to restore them first then put that on after to protect the, there is a video on youtube of them doing it.

Brilliant guide on here for Wet Sading Neadlights on the forum.....

Yeah I was going to follow that guide but this 3m kit is much easier and quicker , with the same result, just cost £25 for the kit
-
that looks 10 times better might have to have a look in to that

You've achieved great results with that kit. I've a spare old headlight, so will give that stuff a try next week then onto the main headlights afterwards.
:happy2:
-
Spooky, did my 10 year old bora's headlights with this kit yesterday as the mot guy said he would fail it next time due to the headlight lenses, and got the same results, should have took some before and after pics, it has improved the light output dramatically :happy2:
-
does it work well on the rears as well?
-
Can't see why not
-
does it work well on the rears as well?
Yes

I read this topic last week and thought that I would give it a go due to excessive stone chips and a couple of minor scratches. I can also confirm that the results are very suprising, and my headlights are like new. I am really happy with the results of the 3M kit and would recommend it. I payed £20, and its worth every penny.
-
Nice work i have this kit sitting in my bedroom but have not got round to doing it yet lol.
Seeing your results makes me want to go do it now. Have to wait for next weekend i think.

Apologies to anyone who sells the Headlight restoration kits but going through the grades of Wet & Dry and keeping the surface of the headlamp (or rear lamp) wet with a soapy solution. Patience and elbow grease is all!! I've done a few sets of lamps now:

The aforementioned 'How To' is a perfect guide.
Good luck

Bought the 3M kit and got it through the post today.... question though the only drill we own is one for the mains, I can use an extension cable, but my issue is i'm not sure if the drill is too powerful , drill we have is this one http://goo.gl/X5ZFm Anyone any idea if this is okay or not... any recommendations for cheap one that would be right

Looks likes it's got variable speed just put it on the slowest setting :happy2:
-
It should be ok because it has variable speed. To be sure though, watch the DIY video and try and match your speed to that in the video.

Mate of mine just uses t cut and that works just as well
-
Mine are way beyond T-cut, I've been using Autosol on them for a while which has improved a little but that's stopped working now so I'll be using one of these kits shortly.
-
Great results there, i bet it's like having new headlights when you drive at night now
