Just joined the forum and what a great one it is too. We've just bought a 2004 Gt Tdi 140 3 door to modify and it be a project car to work on in between jobs. Lots of audio planned in the coming winter months so a full strip out this week is planned and a lot of Dynamat .

Nice, looking foward to the progress on this one :happy2: Going to make any more mods to it other than audio?
:worthless:

Thanks for the kind welcome :happy2:
Yeah, plenty of mods to come. The car's a black 3 door but shes going matt white with a gloss black or carbon roof. I've been amassing parts for a while. I've got a whole R32 front end with a rear R32 bumper and side skirts along with Hella xenon headlights.
I've pieced together a leather interior bit by bit - R32 rear seats, Gti heated front leather and front R32 door cards all for a total of £325 - quite chuffed with that. Kufatec heated harness and new climatronic panel just arrived along with an Mk6 Gti gearnob and gaiter.
I'm in the market for some rear door cards and a leather armrest.
Performance wise just a remap, full Milltek and a K&N filter will do. Set of VMaxx coilovers and some 19" wheels. Just haven't deceided what ones yet!
As i'm a JL Audio dealer they've very kindly given me some mega discount on three amps and a sub. Ive got a set of three way Focal 165 vr3 speakers kicking around just asking to be fitted otherwise it would be full JL. Head unit i'm torn between a Kenwood dnx520vbt or a RNS510.
Full strip out for three packs of Dynamat. This stuff really does make a difference to depth of sound and quality. It's just so bloody expensive.
We've just finished building a Ford Fiesta Mk8 RS van ( thats quite honestly amazing). I'll be sad to see it go after all the effort. We also run a heavily modded black Vw T5 van that i'd never sell.
So, on with the strip out and i'll start a build thread. Quietly excited for this one. Wanted to do one for quite a while..... :scared:

Go with the Kenwood as the 510 doesn't have pre outs -look forward to the build thread

I've got some really good quality line out converters with level adjustment - it the "O/Eness" of the 510 that I like. The kenwood's one sexy unit though. It probably will be the Kenwood for its expandibility.

Would you still get the same sound quality even with the split converts it won't beat separate r c a thou

Agreed. Maybe using a 510 was all about astetics, although if I wasn't using using amps i'd go with the 510 as it sounds fab using the Focals with plenty of Dynamat.
