Post by: Johnny_tro on November 25, 2012, 11:25:50 pm
Just a general question are all fogs the same? size, shape, fixing etc. whether you have a

GT, GTI, ED30 or Jetta ?

As far as I know, yes. The only differences being projector or reflector and bulb types. The reflector uses H11 bulbs and the reflector uses 9006 bulbs. Be aware of this as depending on the year of your car, you might need an adapter harness to fit one or the other.

The shape, size and fixing are all the same.

The earlier 'Projector' style fogs have different connectors too.

Thank you ALL.

May I ask........

- What are the best ones?

- Are the LED ones a nice upgrade and simple to fit?

Projectors will give the best light spread, but are twice the price of the normal reflector jobs, hence why VW ditched them in one of their cost cutting moves.

I tried LED's in my fogs on my M3, but they couldn't match the normal high power halogens. You can get LED's to match and even better the light output, but they cost a bomb and you would need quite a few of them.
