Cost me £44.30 including Vat, back at the start of Feb, that's with a bit of trade discount through my dads work but without it should have been £42.10 excluding VAT.

The part number for the valance for the 'GTi' (Standard) is: 1K6807521D9B9

Aye there is 2 IIRC...the normal GTI style ala Bridget Jones..ie the black bit looks like big pants.. The you have the Edition 30 which is all colour coded but has a different lower style valance, sorry at work at present so can't post any pics, but have a look in the memebers rides section and hopefully you'll see the different types, most owners seem to opt to change then for the Editon 30 style or even go for  the centre Exhaust style as per the R32.

Have alook here, can't see the photo's at work as I just get little red crosses, but I'm sure there are some rear end shots... :ashamed:

Ah okay, If you we're local to me I could have suggested using Shrewsbury VW (I live in Telford) as I know Martin (parts manager) would have knocked you off some discount by mentioning me....but I'm not sure how much it would cost for them to send it to you...

Yes coloured coded is the way to go...

....Parking sensors are usually in the upper section of rear, so no.

....It's a subject which has been much debated. I have found them very useful sometimes in 'seeing' things which aren't obvious or which simply aren't visible to the naked eye. I don't care what other people think about me for having them - I have them solely for my benefit and no-one else's.

Hey Guys personally i never have any use for the sensors ,It was just that they were on the car when i bought it ,they were not gonna stop me from buying the car.other extras inc rain sensors ,leather ,sunroof  and a bridget ...
cant win them all.. :signLOL:
Dont think the missus ever uses the sensors either ...wish she never used the car in general tbh...

VW quoted me 340 Quid odds + vat for the ed 30 rear ....

Post by: no golf clubs at all on June 27, 2009, 03:41:20 pm
Was the £340 for the whole rear ie top and bottom sections? Or was that just the lower valance? Why is there £300 of a difference? Are they made of gold FFS.

The other option is to get your standard valance colour coded.  Paint the majority but leave the part below the curved line bare plastic.  Would look good and save you a fair bit.

spoke to vw today qouted me 45 quid for the standard which would fit .They said the edition 30 would require the full top and bottom sections to be changed ,they said edition 30 valance woulod not fit the standard gti heeence 340 quid odds .Is this total nonsense i cant believe that to be honest. What the guy said was after he put reg in the computer it gave him  the model of all the valances that would fit .Edition 30 was not one of them..any ideas..

I thought all valences would fit the top section :-(

I've got parking sensors in the top section of mine and hoped either to change my abt quad valance for the r 32 with the cf insert ala robin or the ed 30 and get a new milly.

got me thier Red Robin,i like the idea of the camera in the mk 6 as you can't see it,think reverse sensors spoil the look of the car-if we all liked the same thing, the world would be a boring place :happy2:

....I wholeheartedly agree about us not all liking the same thing etc, but do wish that some were as honest as you and admitted they just didn't like the look of reversing sensors rather than the sissy comments. I guess that people like that are somewhat over concerned about what others might think of them.

Thats not correct.  I fitted an ed30 bumper to my standard gti top half.  All golfs have the same top piece

Thanks Winyra. Good to get that confirmed. Just wish I could understand why the gti standard valance is circa £45 and the ed30 is £345!

I'm lovin the ed30 body kit. Just wish I could justify the expeniture. For me I'd need to whip off the milly quads and replace with a twin then have the costs of paint to add! I'd probably have to spend £1500 ish not much dearer for me to trade up lol

Suppose its down to more complicated moulding and the fact it's primed ready for painting.  Are you sure it is that expensive?  Thought it was around £260 ish.  I was lucky, a nice £80 ebay purchase and £30 petrol   I love it though and if i had to do it again, i'd happily pay the full price for it.

And ref the exhaust, loads of people have standard exhausts sitting around doing nothing.  That's an option and i'm sure your miltek will fetch good money on ebay

Get thee behind me Satan :-)

Yep thought of selling the quads to help pay. But I'd love another milltek. I will just keep my eyes peeled for someone selling the ed30 rear.

been told by a friend of a friend  that one of the reasons the ed 30 is so expensive is to deter good people like ourselves
from changing the spec of the standard gti."VW" would advise against changing any spec on the car .
Needless to say im ignoring them , I will phone other dealers on monday to see if i can get it any cheaper and also if the 340 is for the full rear or the bottom section/spoiler . Then i will need to wait around six weeks at least until i can sweet talk the missus..

I check every week for the ed30 front splitter and always check for the rear and I've only seen 1 come up in the past year

Post by: no golf clubs at all on July 04, 2009, 08:13:31 pm
lol....yep i check daily too for any of the ed30 body kit. Not much ever appears, reckon its a stealer jobbie but its just soo expensive.

£340 for the lower rear I believe.
sides are similar, if not dearer and the front lip I think is about £200!

best part of a grand, before paint!

probably better just getting a good stage 2 remap or adding some coilovers or big brakes.
