Title: Going to Ireland without passport

I'm going to Ireland on Sunday to pick a vehicle up. Was gunna take my girlfriend for the trip but her passport expired a couple of months ago. Had a look on stennaline's website and they say its ok but not sure if that's for Southern Ireland as well. Does anyone know or have been over there with out passport?

Are you flying there or ferry both ways?

You`ll need a passport to fly but you wont need one for the ferry  :happy2:

Ferry both ways taking a car transporter so wasn't cheap either

I used to travel to both Ireland's regularly and used my drivers license a few times with no issues.

You don't need a passport for entry into the Rep but I would check the ID requirements of the airline. I always using my passport flying with that gobsh*te's Ryanscare because they don't accept driving licences as ID (officially).

what r u getting mate as cars in Ireland are much more expensinve than in UK

A little project for work next year. It's not road legal but it is not a bad price for the work that has gone into it.

Not any more. Performance cars have depreciated hugely in the last few years.

Agreed due to high emission based road tax performance cars with big engines could be found at good price. Just to give you a flavour for 08+ reg cars when emission based road tax system was introduced will make you pay 2258 euros a year for m3 from 2008 onwards and that is road tax only excluding insurance  :stupid:

Luckily thanks to clever manufacturers even performance cars now have low emission and for new 135i M the road tax is only 660 euros....
