Title: H&R or Eibach??
Post by: Ranbeer Singh on November 30, 2012, 01:06:03 am
Hi,

I have a choice of H&R or Eibach (Pro or Sportline) as these come in on budget. I'm after a lower look but most importantly ones that least compromise the comfort of a standard GTI. What do you recommend? Is there an alternative? And does anyone know where I can get the best deal? As you can probably tell I am new to this so any recommendations would be much appreciated.

Hi mate, welcome aboard..I've got H&Rs springs on my eddy & find it a big improvement over stock in terms of handling, the car feels more planted & it lowers the car just enough..also ride is a little bit harder then oem..might be selling my springs in jan as I want a bilstein b14 kit..you intreasted mate?

H&R's for me  :happy2:

Ride comfort is excellent and they certainly sharpen up the handling. They are also a few mm's lower than the eibachs when on the car.

Thanks for the info.

Dan I'm definitely interested to purchase in Jan. December always an expensive month! How  would we go about this? Price? Exchange? I am still hoping for some advice from people who have experience in both... Can't discount the Eibachs just yet!

I've got H&R springs and my personal opinion is that they are superb!
This is my first set of aftermarket springs and would recommend them to everyone.
The car feels far sharper, tighter and more accurate than before plus the added bonus that I think the car looks great dropped by 30mm.
Buy them!

Worth bearing in mind that lowering your car (with any brand of springs) will cause extra wear on your shocks and bushes. I'm having to replace a lot of my suspension system at 56,000 miles as everything is cluncking & clicking  :sad1: - although the roads round my way dont help

Get the H&R, get springs and you'll end up with a nice stance on your car. Personally I'd keep saving and get some adjustable Coilovers and you will never look back. If not, the H&R are a great spring, add some aftermarket updated ARB's and your onto a winner.

I've got the Eibach Sportlines on my DSG and think they are just right, I personally wouldn't want it any lower. I've heard the H&R's are meant to be slightly lower than the Eibachs.
