Hi im looking at getting an rcd510 dab, Just wondered if anyone knows if i need to change the aerial? I dont have dab at the moment. Also will this work on normal radio stations if i dont change the aerial?
Im guessing my current ipod dock thats in teh glove box will just plug into the back of the aux on the rcd510. I assume my current cd player is like that anyway.
thanks :happy2:

Hi i just added a RCD510 dab to my ED30 i purchased the following
dab Aerial http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BLAUPUNKT-KENWOOD-BEAT-ALPINE-Stereos-Glass-Mount-Car-DAB-Radio-Aerial-Antenna-/400354803941?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item5d370180e5 (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BLAUPUNKT-KENWOOD-BEAT-ALPINE-Stereos-Glass-Mount-Car-DAB-Radio-Aerial-Antenna-/400354803941?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item5d370180e5) Fits and works well
Antenna adapter http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FAST-to-EU-RNS510-MFD3-RADIO-ANTENNA-ADAPTER-FM-VW-Fakra-RCD510-7L6051551-/300818749215?pt=UK_In_Car_Technology&hash=item460a31d71f (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FAST-to-EU-RNS510-MFD3-RADIO-ANTENNA-ADAPTER-FM-VW-Fakra-RCD510-7L6051551-/300818749215?pt=UK_In_Car_Technology&hash=item460a31d71f) not needed but made it a breeze to fit
not sure about the ipod connection i had one on my rcd300 but it dosn't work at the moment, not sure if its a cabling fault or i may have to buy a Mdi unit.
hope this help

Okie dokie so, firstly yep the rcd510 will work using the normal radio FM on the left of the unit, but no dab.
As for the antenna adapter you don't actually need one, you can just take the plastic off you old single antenna end and then you have the 2 ends to plug into the back of the new unit :happy2:
Dab wise you can use a windscreen version which cost about £20 (dabonwheels) http://www.dabonwheels.co.uk/AFAR_Amplified_internal_glass_mount_DAB_car_aerial_.html
This is what I used to have and works pretty well bit have since upgraded to a new polo short whip dab roof mounted aerial which replaces the standard aerial with an extension cable run to the front of the car. This is more expensive but signal strength is far superior
Your iPod should work as you mentioned but dot quote me lol
