Title: Sam89 cupra k1
Post by: Sam89 on December 03, 2012, 08:18:16 pm
Hi all, just sharing a few pics of my white k1 on here, progress will be slow at the moment with Xmas etc,
No performance mods as yet but I will soon sort that as I've got the bug thanks to my mate Gary gazon69 on here I think (bad influence)

Here she is at the moment, lowered -35mm' wrapped badges and a few stickers that's it for now until a remap hopefully before crimbo :happy2:

No real reason other missing the GTI (had one before the K1), had an R32, VXR, and an A3 before I came back to the GTI though. :innocent:

Had some time on my hands today and I keep meaning to re-wrap my front and rear badges as they were kind of a rush jobby and I wasn't happy with them.
Had some black vinyl left over from the first time and I fancied doing them a tad different so a quick pop to my local sign shop I've ended up with this! (Excuse my dirty car weathers crap and I cab to wash it lol)

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Foo257%2Fsamlockwood1989%2F7EFC065D-C421-4C9C-B354-83005FEC4B03-473-00000075115E31F6.jpg&hash=adcf1dbe9baef745c688426f2c282f5266fb876c)

Cost me a fiver for then vinyl and I've still got loads left

Cheers sam

Also debating whether or not to buy a black cupra badge instead of the chrome but I think it will be too much/ too chavvy?

Like the black badges! I'd my badges black too, also removed my cupra badge left on the K1 badge.
Also had the roof wrapped black.

I've always de-badged every car I've had but I kind of like the rear as it is on this with the badges.
Going to have my roof wrapped tho, I was gonna attempt it myself but a mate who does it says he'll do it for £60, for that I might aswel save myself the hassle, was gonna cost me £40 for vinyl lol

Cheers for the comments!
Its an awsome car hurdy, every time i go in it i just cant stop laughing for some reason lol!
I would'nt mind an outing in steves porsche, now that thing is unreal, i might have to be cheeky and blag a ride haha. It was awsome at inters last year!

Anyway, whats peoples thoughts on tinted headlights/ taillights.
Im in two minds to whether its too chavvy or whether my car will pull it off on the headlights and look mean!
Ive just won a little comp and the prize is to have my lights tinted using the spi vision film stuff, suppose itell always come off if i dont like it and its for free

You're like a crack dealer! It starts with - "go on, get a stage 1 remap - all the cool kids are doing it"...

Seriously though Sam, you'll love a tuned Cupra. What hardware and map are you going for?  :driver:

With regards to the tinted lights, I wouldn't do it - white K1 & Cupra's look perfect with just black wheels and perhaps some black badges.

Vinyl mike! Took me no longer than an hour to do both including removal and fitting and the best thing about it is it cost me a fiver! Got enough to do another set aswel with loads of white left over.
I try to avoid using paint as i find vinyl better in allot of ways although the finish will never be the same it still looks top

I really cannot wait, I can't wait for next years inters as it will be my first with a vag car with a bit of powaar!
Always been a passenger lol

Bummer about the plate, I thought it was a quick and easy trip to the local office and then just a case of waiting for the new logbook to come through!

Yeh is is but they don't seem to be processing it nice and quickly. They say it can take 8 weeks but normally its done a lot quicker. I know a lot of people go to the dvla, do the paperwork and stick the reg on, but I'm doing by the book! It'll come eventually.

Inters - yes!!

I originally bought some Seat accessory headlight protectors to paint gloss black for shows but didn't like the way they fitted.
It would have worn the paint fitting/removing

I've gotta agree with Mike I'm afraid Sam, but it's your motor mate and there's only one opinion that counts!  :happy2:

Bet you can't wait for tomorrow. Just be prepared for the change in traction on the greasy roads. Don't wanna get caught out   :driver:

I might pop down tomorrow at lunch time if I'm not too busy with work. What time are you picking it up?

It is just one of those marmite mods isnt it!

Im not too sure yet, dropping it off at 10 and then steve's gonna give me a bell when its ready for dyno, i only work 2 minutes away so its better for me i can leave it and nip back any time.

And i know the roads are terrible at the minute, i was hoping they would stay as they are as it aint been too bad past couple of days but i guess not with the down pour we just had!

Haha.... Well... What can i say! I love the noise (alot noisier than our lasses dad's itg) and the map OMG! Its so aggresive! Its unreal, the car just picks up so well and goes lime a rocket, i can honestly say compared to the FIL's revo i would choose the giac all day long, its so driveable and smooth and then as soon as you want to unleash the monster inside my god does it! Steve definatley has worked his magic on this one  :happy2: :driver:

Evoms do a pretty cool engine cover if you fancy something different - it's very plain so easy to customise. The TTS cover is nice when coloured coded to the car. Looks great in white & black.

Evoms also do a heat shield which sits at the back of the engine - purposeful and looks great:

Forgot to add aswel, I know someone who owns a custom exhaust company 'Top Gear Performance' based in scawsby Doncaster,
He's custom built me and my father-in-law both a de-cat 3" downpipe, the quality is awesome and the price is even better, we were originally looking at the "EBay specials" and the milltek ones seem a tad expensive so after a quick chat with Brett he sorted us both out with a mega deal!

Here's the finished product

Went to a local dyno day today organised by a friend,

Turn out was awesome to say only a few we're coming!
Even had hurdy's monster of a golf on the rollers which took power of the day  :happy2: which also left a very unhappy focus RS owner

Anyway here's my graph

I made 290.6 whp
321.3 bhp
343.7 lbft

Mods I have are GIAC software
EvoMS intake and milltek cat-back

My clutch is also slipping which shows as the dip on the graph!

I can say I am VERY pleased with my result  :happy2:

And to compare a stock cupra with just itg intake made 243bhp
Hurdy also asked Garry the dyno operator who vouched that his dyno was very accurate (Dastek)

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Foo257%2Fsamlockwood1989%2FBBE377E1-22FA-41AA-9C3B-D8940C8F50B3-3131-000003A4470993E4.jpg&hash=ee931f7758144e23fcd57fafdb6792bc1de05ead)

Those decats aren't quiet.

My old ED30 made 5bhp and 5 lbft extra just by swapping to a decat.  :happy2:

Im allready mapped to use a decat so will tgat make much more of a difference to the power? My missus dad made roughly 25bhp more than me on dyno and only mod he had more than me was a de-cat downpipe! Although he is running revo st2 as im on giac

Im hoping its mega loud tbh just so i can annoy the neighbors
