Title: A creaking gear shift ??????
Post by: ScottyDog on December 03, 2012, 09:13:48 pm
Hi,
Ive had a creaking coming from the gear shift when i change gear especially in traffic, but when the car is on a long run it goes away. sounds like its coming from inside the gator . Has anyone else had this problem or any ideas.

I've had this on and off for years. Mine seems to be brought on in cold weather too. Think it only happens when moving into one particular gear for me. Glad it's not just mine.

Pop of the gaitor and spray some grease down there.  Does dry up on the plastic ball over time.

Not really. Where the knob is the plastic at the bottom pulls out then you will see the linkage.
