Pretty much as title. I have a 3dr 1.9tdi se(I know) I've had for just under 2 years now, but only being 21 can't justify the insurance on a gti/r32. But i'm in need of finding as best of a compromise as I can.
What are your views on the above, bare in mind I will be running all season tyres on them (trips to Europe quite often).
Trying to compare, value for money, tyre cost.
Wheels will be either TD1.2's for the 18s(225/40) and 17s(225/45) or banded steels for the 16's(225/50). Can't stick to my standard 15's standard as I have a 312mm conversion ready to go on.
Thanks in advance :).

18s all day long
-
Haha cheers, please bare in mind, these will be used for a 10 hour drive twice every month or so, so need to be comfortable... do you have 18's? How are they?
-
18s are fine. you will notice a little more bounce in your ride going from 16s or 17s, but they're not "uncomfortable"
-
18" IMO. Get the Team Dynamics 18" x 8" wheels with some 225/40/R18 rubber on. The TD's are great wheels and weigh as much as a bag of sugar, you'll really notice it in the steering.

Thanks very much for all your help, will be ordering a set of TD's at the end of this week, were thinking anthracite for my reflex silver?

^^^^ Definitely :happy2:
Anthracite......
From eBay, the cheapest I've come across and from a seller with good rep. £641.33

Oh gosh they look nice

Definitely getting a set of TD 1.2s after seeing them in the flesh last night....
But looking at getting a set of pro race 3's in 17's for the winter months. Has anyone seen a set of 3's on a mk5? If so i'd be very very grateful for a pictures? Cheers.

I would go for 17s
Cheaper
Cheaper tyres
