In the summer I refurbished my wheels 17 inch monza's using a VW anthracite colour (can't remember which one).

I am happy with how they look but I am thinking of changing them to gloss black with a red stripe around the outside, have seen a few Tornado reds with this colour.
I am also thinking of colour coding the side skirts, rear bumper and front spoiler. I also think the car would benefit from some new springs say H&R with a 30mm drop?
Any opinions on this would be gratefully received as I will have a month of work when I get back from Afghan in January and will have some time on my hands :happy2:
-
Not sure on the red stripe but gloss black rims and abit of a drop will look nice with black mirror caps IMO :happy2:
-
Definitely like the idea of black mirror caps :happy2: I am also going to de-chrome the front and rear badges (black).
-
Always like the Red/Black look... does well on white cars too.
Carbon fibre bonnet next.
-
Little more drop with colour coding bumpers etc with gloss black alloys will look excellent
-
quite like the anthracite mate, tho you need 18s for it to look best!
-
Equally leave the wheels the same as they are, colour code skirts, rear bumper and get a ed30 splitter? My 2pennies worth :happy2:

Might just do that as I quite like the wheels as they are, don't show brake dust although I keep them really clean, like the ed30 splitter will have to look out for one on here or go direct to VW?

Love Anthracite (just ordered some TD's in Anthracite so I'm biased) on a red car. Have you seen SiantSteve's Eddy with the black wheels and red rim? Looks gorgeous IMO...

The front end of my car with black and red (ignore the wheels).....

Seeing Saint Steves sowed the seed as I do like his wheels, but I do like anthracite as well
TD's what are these?
-
Still think you need a little more lows too :happy2:
-
I'd leave the wheels as they are, they look great. I think they match the skirts as well, giving a 'lightweight' look like my car. When I put my black Pescara's on, everyone on here told me not to colour-code, as it really went well with the black plastic and black around the windows etc. I like the look of your car as it is, althouh I agree with Sub39, the car would have a much better stance from behind, and look better from the side if those arches were filled out with 18's.

Perhaps I should look out for some 18's and refurb them in anthracite as well, then use the 17's in winter :happy2:

Cant agree more! I personally am not a great fan of colour coding unless it really 'works' on that car. I think if yours had 18's and as i keep banging on, lower :driver: It would look the business :happy2:

I like them :happy2: Where are you getting them from, cost? PM if you like.
-
Will definitely drop at least 30mm.
Had some eibach lowering springs on a previous Mk4 Golf v5 and was most impressed, Notice a lot of people on here recommend H&R springs, have seen the threads :happy2:
-
Carbon fiber(Gloss Look) side mirror covers will do it a as well :happy2:
-
I have Gloss black TD's and love them. Not only are they a great value strong lightweight wheel the gloss black is super easy to clean :happy2:

Where from?
-
I got them from Rimstyle. Dont think there are many places that do them any cheaper
-
Anthricite looks class! Don't fancy black rims on red car....
This is the route I will be going when refurbing my monzas 2 next year!

So at the moment general consensus is to have wheels in anthracite although need to be 18's or TD's (will check prices) can then keep 17's for winter.
Lower by 30mm.
Probably change mirrors casings for black ones (will prob smoke the indicator lenses).
Find an edition 30 front spoiler.
Probably colour code, I know it will look like an Eddy but won't be, I would like one but can't afford one with the spec I would want (plenty of threads on this at the moment ).
I like my car and it is pretty much sorted mechanically and will be a keeper for a few more years until I can afford a newer one.

^^^^ at the least it gives you another option come decision time. I was recommended the TD's by a few peeps on here so can't wait to get them on come spring time. By all accounts they weigh as much as a bag of sugar as well.
:happy2:

This Forum is great but can cost a fortune

^^^^ very true! :signLOL:

Black rims with a polished silver rim will look ace on a red car.. Had these on a red 997 and loved it.. I think you can get away with black wheels on a bright coloured car but they look too drug dealer / gangsta / chav (delete where appropriate) on darker cars.. All my own opinion of course.. No offence meant to any chavs, gangstas or drug dealers... :P
