Hi All
Jumped in the car today, started her up as usual and notice my ESP light was on. I pressed the button to attempt to turn it off but she wasn't having any of it.
Now, looking on the net it seems to be a common problem and something which is covered by VW (possibility of them paying 65% of the bill or 100% in some cases) which is always good.
What would you do in my shoes? Go to the dealer? Call them up? Have it checked privately first?
Any help and advise is appreciated :happy2:

Hi mate i recently had this problem on my TDI and got it fixed by VW dealer for Free of Charge I dont have a warranty and my car is 05 plate with 115.000 on the clock at that time
Contact them and tell them the story of what happended and tell them that you are aware of the ESP failure being a common problem. As Dom Littlewoods Show "Dont Get Done Get Dom" presented that the G201 is indeed a common fault and you have done your research and under the consumer rights the ESP is Not Fit For Purpose and they have to repair it under their own warranty conditions.. Dont take any bush*t from them
Then all you have to get the Dealer to do a diognostic on your car if the G201 Fault code appears then be very HAPPY, as the cost of the diognostic and the cost of parts and labour will be free. + a FREE VALET :happy2:
Then i joined this group, they have people who are very knowledgeable in this issue, they have effective complaint letters, contact details for the CEO and a Consumer rights file

Mine was exactly the same, got in one morning and the ESP light was on. I did a bit of research then rang VW UK who said they were not aware of any problems like this. I got my car scanned and it came up as the G201 problem. I then went to my local VW dealer who said I would have to have it scanned by them at a cost of £50, if it was the G201 problem then I would get a refund and they would repair it free of charge, which is what they did :happy2:
They didn't ask to see any service history or even the mileage of the car before they said if it was this problem they would fix it FOC. This was a couple of weeks ago.
Hopefully you should get yours done FOC !

This sounds good, I'm hoping for the G201 error then when I get it scanned!
