Hi guys I swapped my white worm rear boot badge complete for a mk6 version, noticed that the mk6 unit was a lot lighter, possibly due to the fact the otter casing is no longer made of metal.
Secondly the handle springs back quite fast, where as on the mk5 it comes back slowly, thirdly there is a kind of switch, fitted to the mk5 on the inside, not sure what this is for.
The loom just about reached the new badge with a bit of tugging.
If any one can confirm some of the points noticed and if its meant to have all these changes many thanks

Hi Kam,
Unfortunately VW went on a bit if a saving project so the mk6 badges are a lot lighter (although the mk5 3d ones are a little lighter than the older white worm ones). The mk6 also has a more snatch like return, no smooth and slow one like the mk5s :sad1:
Unsure what you mean about the switch - could be the bit that completes the electric circuit when you lift the handle?
As for the plug, yep mk6 is in a slightly different place so on the mk5 you do need to stretch the cable a little :drinking:

have you got any pictures? im guessing because you had a white worm issue, that you had the flat style badge.
does the badge stick out at all because i hear the mk5 3d ones stick out a bit when fitted to the 05/55 models

HI,
I've got a mk5 3d badge fitted to my 2005 tdi, the badge does indeed stick out...
-
yeah thats what i heard, its a shame :(
would like to see if the mk6 is different!
-
They only stick out a little, well worth it for the visual benefits

changed mine to the 3d one but didn't like the way it stuck out so i got my old one painted in stead
