I can't believe this! You'd have thought he'd keep his nose clean in his line of business! He'll have to hire himself to repair his tarnished image!! :signLOL:
-
Bloody hell... is anyone on tv NOT a paedo? :scared:
-
2 to the chest and 1 to the head is all that parasite Clifford deserves and that's before he stuck his dick in some kids. :fighting: :fighting: :fighting:
-
Its always the people you least expect - they should castrate them if found guilty
-
I'm putting 20 quid on the next lot being Alastair Stewart and the Chuckle Brothers! :signLOL:
Timmy Mallet's got to be a contender as well! :signLOL:
-
Couldn't have happened to a nicer bloke : :signLOL: :signLOL: :signLOL: :signLOL: :signLOL:
Won't be many more TV interviews with his Roller and mansion in the background after this. Big headed co!k.

.
We don't know yet when Max Clifford's offences are alleged (we have to say "alleged" until proven in court or admitted) to have taken place. This is absolutely no excuse for such behaviour, but back in the 1970s taking advantage of teenage girls who swooned over famous stars was commonplace and accepted by everyone in the business.
However, behaviour like Savile's goes beyond acceptability no matter how long ago and in what moral climate.
The likelihood is that Max Clifford is found guilty but Alistair McAlpine (an ex client of mine) hasn't been. So we need to wait and see rather than become a lynch mob.

No smoke without fire.
I think bearing in mind the sensitivity of the subject the Police are more than certain if they pick someone up.

He hasnt been found guilty yet!!! :P
... im still coming to terms with all this, as I met him when I was younger :chicken:

....The no smoke without fire aspect isn't reliable. But I do understand what you mean. We are in the realms of a 'strong likelihood of guilt'.
If by the Police "picking someone up", you mean making an arrest of, then very likely but still only alleged and not necessarily guilty. I was interviewed at length and on two separate occasions by Police over the murder of a Playboy Bunny girl I knew (Eve Stratford) in the 1970s and the Police were not nice to me and had the attitude that I was guilty but I wasn't arrested.
As you know, I am very pro Police but they are not always right and it is a good thing that we have courts in which to present cases both for and against someone accused.

....I wholeheartedly agree and realised that there was an element of contradiction when writing my post. However, the sheer weight of evidence (as far as we know it via the media) does strongly suggest he is guilty.
What a fiasco it would be if Savile was somehow found not to be guilty! But I can't see that happening. Whichever way you want to interpret it, his words "It was fun while it lasted" (or similar) on his now smashed up gravestone, said it all and he is untouchable now he is dead. That is of course unless you are religious and believe in the fires of Hell in an afterlife.

That's possibly the strangest claim to fame I've ever heard. Well done
-
i think given the media reaction after the BBC got it wrong be careful what you say

....It was very scary indeed at the time. Added to which, although I had only recently met her I was a close friend of one of her best mates (also a Bunny Girl) and the whole event was both shocking and emotional.
Anyway, the point I'm making is that the Police have a difficult job and are also under pressure to solve crime and, being human, they don't always get it right.
They may have got it right re Max Clifford but we actually don't know at this stage. Time will tell. I have to say that I really don't like the 'lynch mob' mentality which the media seem to stir up.

Part of the problem is that even if you're 100% innocent you never quite recover from allegations like this being spread across the media.
Look at Christopher Jefferies who was wrongly accused of murdering Jo Yeates. His life was ruined by totally false allegations appearing in every newspaper going. The British public too readily believe what they are told without questioning it.

....So tragically true! That's exactly what I was going to point out too :happy2:

....I'm not counting but I think I read that the Police had dozens to check out. However, if I read it in a newspaper.............. :popcornsoda:
As comedian Billy Connolly once said: "I read it (about himself) in The Sun, so it must be true!"

The media are to blame....

I agree about the media and it's tw4ts like Clifford that add fuel to the fire.

....There's a strong irony about that  :happy2:
-
I don't disagree, but you can't think that the media are responsible for the general public losing their common sense and ability to think for themselves.

I know. Very amusing. :happy2:

No they have done that all by themselves. :rolleye:
-
By the way, I suddenly became aware that I might sound as if I'm defending Clifford. For the record, I am 100% not. Couldn't have happened to a nicer bloke.
-
Im sure this video didnt help things. I can only guess people are scurrying to airports and islands right now. If he goes down, Im sure he'll release the boat load of information on the top level pedo's. But of course, that'll never happen. Instead, he'll end up being given massive compensation and the clamp down on the free press will be even tighter. :drinking:

Correct.... but its the MEDIA that feed us all this sh*t, they tell us what they think we want to know. This is one reason why I don't watch the news and don't read news papers. I do my "newsfinding" online where I choose what I want to read.
If it wasn't for the media we would be out of the recession already.

I agree with that 100%!

....But since when have the general public ever had much common sense and ability to think for themselves?
[Am I sounding like an oily Tory public schoolboy?]
In some ways, the media reflect the general public - It's an ironic relationship just as it is with Max Clifford and the media.
-
Couldn't care less about that Max Clifford, makes his living as a parasite. If its true I hope the prison guard leaves his cell door open one day and some nice chap uses him appropriately.
The one that shocked me was Stuart Hall, a hero of my yoof, Where will this end?? As a parent I physically feel sick in the pit of my stomach when reading of hearing these kinds of allegations. Sad times IMO.

Is the correct answer^^^^^, just look at the whole Hillsborough thing, we (the public) were told a story by the police and the press and for 23yrs the vast majority believed it while the families of 96 innocent people have suffered beyond belief trying to get the truth out, if a court finds Clifford guilty then he deserves everything that comes to him, if he's not yet another un-named person has wrecked another innocent persons life and career.
It would appear (and this is only my opinion on this carry on) that stuff that was widespread, commonplace and basically accepted back in the 70's and early 80's is now deemed as abuse/assault, now this doesn't make it OK but I do wonder where this is going to end, just have a good look at a Carry on film or a Benny Hill program.
There'll be hundreds of rock stars and the likes quaking in their boots that a load of groupies they bonked back in the 70's are all going to turn up saying they were only 15 at the time, I wonder who the first big name will be......

....Absolutely spot on! As someone from that era (am now 65yo) who lived in Chelsea and hung out with a number of rock stars and rich, titled, and famous people - Sex, drugs, and rock-n-roll was normal - I wonder where it will all end. I can be 100% certain though that anyone I had any form of sexual activity with was above the legal age of consent, and anyway, I'm not famous and so of no interest to the media. I know of one or two people who might be quaking though because of all this delving into the past. It has become a witch hunt.
The Police may indeed be proved to be right in whose collars they are feeling, however we all need to draw a line between what might be described as 'loose moral behaviour' and paedophilia or rape. Knee-jerk reaction to the alleged (until proven) vile acts of Mr Savile is not appropriate in my opinion.
