hi can anyone point out to me wear the chip is in the ecu as ive just changed my ecu as other been fried by a coilpack burnout, i have bought another ecu as the same as i had and been told to swap the immobiliser chip around.
-
Very strange first post & not really the thing to have posted on a public forum. You never know who is watching?.
-
take it to the dealer or get an ECU specialist
You can't swop the chip anyway, as you say the ecu is fried
-
yes my old ecu is fried i have got a used ecu with matching bosch numbers from ebay and it says immobiliser fault on dash when i installed the new one, im looking for positive replys plz
-
The ECU needs to be adapted to the immobiliser info in the cluster and key
You can't do this yourself unless you have the right tools
Go to the dealer or ECU specialist

Hi Dog-Box,
As EDDIE said, changing the ECU is not designed to be Plug and Play. Appreciate it doesn't help you but you will need to speak to a Dealership or a ECU Specialist as they have the appropriate tools to code the ECU to your car.

We can do IMMO off, will need the ECU sending or if the BDM port is still talking to the processor chip on the old ECU we can clone it to your new ecu and it will be plug and play.
I've never had the need to remove the EEPROM and swap it over on the ME9 ecu as we can copy its data from the BDM protocol read, but its likely to be an 8 leg chip.

In my opinion help for problems of this nature should be very limited as its trying to get around a critical security feature of the car!
There shouldn't be open assistance to bypass or hack the immobiliser.
I'm sorry if that upsets anyone but that's my opinion

I offered to copy the immobiliser coding from the old ecu to the new, this is pretty "safe"
However you have a valid point about immobiliser bypass.
