Title: RCD 510 to RNS 510?

Looking at a golf tomorrow with the RCD 510 with 6 disc changer and iPod dock fitted.

I want to change it to a RNS 510.. Will it literally be just a plug and play swap and fit the GPS antenna?

Will the iPod dock and CD changer still work?

You should get someone with a vcds cable plug it in and check the box for sat nav in the installation list of the canbus gateway. A two minute job!

Will I not need to swap pins etc for the changer then?

I work for VW but only for the last few weeks and haven't had experience with one yet so have the genuine vas pc to use.. So I have to activate sat nav before it will work on the RNS?

The unit should work without coding it but the gateway won't know it's there on the canbus. Also if your car also has a factory amp under the passenger seat then you'll need vcds to code the unit to reduce its output.

And I don't think you'll need to do any pin swaps if moving from a third generation unit to another  third generation unit.

Ok that will be no worries at work il get it all coded up..

That will be handy if it just plugs in and the disc changer still works! Will post up how it goes if I buy the car!
