I have a ramp booked for doing an oil change tomorrow and out of the 2 x 4l tubs of oil I orderd from amazon only 1 has turned up, the other tub has been held at yodels Aberdeen depot since Tuesday due to adverse weather, even though yodel deliverd other items to me today!
So I need to buy a 1l bottle locally tomorrow morning
Anyone noticed any deals in supermarkets lately?

Tesco usually have it, but it's a lottery as to how much it'll be. ECP as Sub says...

There is a home bargains next to halfords I was at tonight getting exhaust paste
Do they have 5w30?
Wold it be ok to mix the FST stuff with the older type?

I used 4l of fst and topped off the rest with the older stuff and have had no issues.
-
Have seen the recent bitching about this Fst stuff but haven't yet come across it.
I'd imagine it's okay to mix if the same viscosity

FST

See it's obvious.
You can't mix the new and the old or else you will destabilise the Moon's orbit.

I wonder if that is what the myans predicted? One mk5 golf owner mixed non FST oil with FST oil causing the moons orbit to destabilise, 6 days later and life on earth as we know it ended :happy2:

Good point Baz. :happy2:

might see whether home bargains have 5-30 in

They only had 5w40 but that what I use currently anyway
-
I got from asda for £12 and its FST so we should all be safe
I was booked into the ramps at 8am so couldn't really get anywhere else open at that time
Looks like national tyres never changed my oil filter last time as they never took the under tray off and there is no way it can be changed without taking the undertray off

Maybe they just sucked the oil out of the oil pan and replaced with fresh stuff.
-
This is one of the reasons I do as much as I can myself - you know it's been done properly.
-
It does happen --- I remember when I had my Focus and was waiting for a service, I saw them drain the oil from a Mondeo, replace the filter, then because they needed the lift for another motor, drive the feckin' thing out the back without any oil! Then proceed to add the oil there... monkeys, don't give 2 sh!ts some of them.

Back on topic however, EurocP have 5w30 Edge (http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Volkswagen_Golf_2.0_2005/p/car-accessories/engine-oils-and-car-fluids/engineoils/5w30-engine-oil/?521771021&0&cc5_247) which I think is good down to -25*C, for £29.99 with promo code: MIDMONTH31
