Hi there the Glow Plug Sustem/Engine Fault light flashed today manual says need to take it to vw straight away but still drove like a dream, any ideas?
cheers
-
Without reading the fault codes no one can do anything but guess TBH.
Has anything changed on the car recently and is it remapped?
-
easy one, the glow plug light acts as a fault warning for the electrical system. I would hazard a precise guess and say its a faulty accelerator switch or brake switch.
But has said until you get a diagnostic test you wont know which it is, just to show you what I mean if you take the plug from the top of your accelerator pedal the glow plug light will flash on and off.

I would first check your brake lights to see that one of the bulbs isn't blown.
-
If the light had blown it would come up in the mfa aslong has you have the midline or highline clocks
-
only have the lowline but bulb failure does show if present, the light flashes for a few mins then goes away but still drives like normal? i think i'll get it checked soon how much does it cost to get checked at vw approx?

See if anyone near you has a Ross Tech VCDS cable. You can scan the car for fault codes and hopefully narrow down the problem without using VW.

Good idea, does anyone in the midlands here have the Ross Tech VCDS cable and willing to check my car? Think it might be cruise control you know thats been temperental recently.

Let me know how yours turns out!

Bloody hell Darren, are you that good that you can now diagnose electrical problems without VCDS just by a short description. You got it spot on !
Always knew you had the force

Hi all
I think I may have same problem? My glow plug light comes on and off. When it's on it blinks. It starts to flash when I put my foot down. Normally when I get around 2000 revs. Also my engine control system light is permanently on. Anyone have an idea what it could be? Car has hardly and power even when dropping down gears. I'm practically driving backwards when I go up hill! Thanks in advance. Jon VW Golf 2010 2.0 TDI
