Has anybody changed the rear abs sensor rings ?
Can they just be changed by themselves ?
Just im still having trouble with my abs and have put 2 brand new rear speed sensors in today to no avail and now im starting to get angry with it.

Any vcds fault code?

FAULT CODE 00290 ABS WHEEL SPEED SENSOR, REAR LEFT G46.
003 - MECHANICAL FAILURE - INTERMITTENT
00287 ABS WHEEL SPEED SENSOR, REAR RIGHT G44
003 - MECHANICAL FAILURE - INTERMITTENT
Now after fitting new sensors today and trying to clean the rings it says it cant read it either - implossiable signal.
Never rains but it pours lol

I fixed one the other day that had the exact same symptoms as yours. Changed the sensor but to no avail. Changed the bearing (abs ring attached to it) took it for a short drive and the light went out. Cleared the codes with VCDS, checked a couple of days later and it hadn't came back.
Bearing is easy enough to change, take off the brake disc carrier, remove the brake disc, remove the grease cap and undo the nut. The bearing should then just slide off.

Cheers SMIL3R looks like i will need to get some bearings ordered tomorrow, hope i get the right size ones

Finally got my bearings fitted, and after £142 for 2 new sensors, £100 for 2 new bearings, £90 for a scan at VW, £25 for spline bits and then a bent pin on a sensor all is working now. The sensor rings were well and truly damaged and rusted away.
