Title: Possibly the dullest thread ever (sorry) - Best Screen Wash?
Post by: Mk5 GTian on December 17, 2012, 10:47:37 am

Apologies for this one, but is there a really good screen wash that stands out, or are they all much of a muchness?  :indifferent: I'm running low, and I want to get a decent quality one.  :indifferent:

The VW one is all I ever use. Amazingly it's quite cheap too!

I can highly recommend the Quantum Screenwash from TPS, as found in many VW dealerships  :happy2:

At only £2.69 for a 5L bottle of concentrate its a great bargain

I was using auto gleam stuff (got it cheap) but now that's gone I was gonna try rain x stuff but considering how little you get £7 (think its a litre) then I'll be getting the VW stuff next at that price

Iv'e started using the stuff from Lidl http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/lidl-screenwash-with-anti-freeze-5-99-for-5l-1351464 (http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/lidl-screenwash-with-anti-freeze-5-99-for-5l-1351464)

I think its very good, it protects down to -60 if you need & its made in Germany :jumpmove:

I use the VW stuff. I haven't a clue what ratio of fluid to water you're supposed to use, or if you're supposed to mix it with water at all??

I just stick some in and fill up with water, but I'm probably getting it completely wrong

If you take the bottle and gently peel off either the front or back label (cant remember which), it has the dilution ratios....

hope this helps

I might have known the Germans wouldn't have omitted this vital information.

Cheers!

....Most definitely worth you asking the question - It saves me starting a similar topic and embarrassing myself because this morning I was clearing space on the dining (kitchen) table to make room for the christmas tree and found a sachet of Granville screenwash I was given free a while ago but I don't know if it's good enough to use. Some screenwashes bung up the jets.

Anyone know about Granville, please?

....Yeh, any liquid which glows in the dark is possibly radio-active and is best avoided!

I used to love it, when Arkwright was perving at Nurse Gladys, with Granville getting his fingers nipped by the temperamental till! Classic indeed RR!

The 5L Quantum is great for the price. I also bought a 1L bottle for 99p which I leave in the boot.

I was told that the -20*C figures were based on a 1:3 dilution ratio, so a 5L will dilute to make 20L.

Windscreen washers and wipers get heavy use in the summer as they clean away dust, sap and insects. So be sure to include a screenwash check as part of every vehicle service.

Did you know that the Legionnaires’ bug was found in 1 in 5 cars without screenwash? The additives used in our Quantum and Volkswagen Group Genuine Screenwash products can kill the Legionnaires’ bug.

• Efficient all-year cleaning – cuts through bugs, dust and tree sap
• Clear, smear-free screens aid road safety
• Protection down to minus 20°C for peace of mind

Part Number: ZGB 00Q SWC 05L
Important: For Volkswagen Group vehicles with fan-jet washers system please use Genuine Screenwash

Legionnaire's Disease from a Screenwash, is nothing safe!  :scared:

There's me, driving along, merrily squirting the screenwash, happily inhaling the fresh smell and (by all accounts) contracting Legionnaire's Disease, might as well inject the ebola virus for good measure to make sure I'm fully infected.

From now on (if I live through this) its Quantum all the way!!

+1 for VW's stuff. I tried halfrauds ready mixed once and it was awful - smeared on the windscreen and then dried so you would have to use more of it etc.
