Title: Machine polishing
Post by: Black9 on December 21, 2012, 04:42:38 pm
Hi guys looking for some info...

Want to have both my Golfs detailed and can't justify spending £300+ to have them both done so,

Looking to buy a machine polisher over the festive period and a few products to help me along the way...

First off I'm a novice and have never used a polisher in my life so would want a fairly basic one which is easy to use, any recommendations? I know there's a DA type polisher, any other ones out there?

I have a karcher washer, meguiars clay kit and various wax's both in gel and spray types.. What sort of polish should I be going for?

Will also be buying a snow foam extension for my karcher washer and snow foam mixture. Which one is well priced?

Thanks

Multiple similar threads very recently so if you have a look down the page, you'll find a few suggestions.

Polisher - d/a or rotary. Former is easier to get to grips with and unlikely to cause damage. Get one with sample polishes and some pads as a kit. Snowfoam lances - the proper ones are made by the same company but sold by different people. I got mine from elite car care.

if you buy a d/a megs 300 and megs microfibre pads are a must for vag paint

With the amount of paint they remove, I'd also get a paint depth gauge if that's the route you plan to go down. I also had to buy four large and four small pads because the pads wore out very quickly.

I've had a look on clean your car and the DAS 6 PRO seems like a good machine but I'm not sure which package to go for... I was thinking the SONUS kit as it comes with all the pads and polishes/sealants I'd need to give the car a full detail. Opinions?

Any recommendations on a snow foam attachment for a Karcher washer

Any of them look good. I'd personally go for Sonus pads and Menzerna polish.

They also do a snowfoam lance which is fine.

Menzerna are perfect for Vag paints :)

Never heard that before??
They're the best I've used. I've tried everything.
Did you use a correct polish/pad combination ???

Try a more abrasive compound or firmer pad.
