Oh my F wording god......followed one of these (Coupe version) yesterday for a while, even driving at reasonable speed in my car and at a safe distance the noise coming from that thing was unbelievable, I eventually got right behind him at a T junction and he totally nailed it away, back end stepped out and I actually think when I heard the roar a little bit of wee came out.............want, want, want the estate version.
-
Heard one going in be opposite direction off a roundabout Fri eve, same as you the sound made me a quivering mess, brutal sounding
Have a listen to this......
-
These cars are mad, is looking into getting one and very very nearly brought one, there sound is next level, makes the M3' sound like a 3cy polo :star:
-
When i was at school in year 10 i did work experience at a local mercedes dealership and one of the days i was on pdi we went out in the estate version (5 years ago) we hit 145mph and the seats kind of suck you in the side bulsters squeeze you tight it was an absolute mad car but they are alot of money!
-
My Dads mate has got one of these.
Is an awesome car but........ he says its the sort of car you could borrow from a mate for a weekend and have a great time and never stop grinning. However having to live with it is not so much fun. He is currently averaging 18mpg in it. Also the power is far too much for a family saloon on uk roads. One moment of over zealous driving and you either end up crapping yourself or checking your mirrows for fear of the police catching you and taking your license away.
A car like this real needs to be a weekend car but if thats what your looking for i would much prefer something like a 911 turbo.

I'd struggle to get the dog and the baby in the back of a 911 turbo though..... :happy2:

It's a shame the 6.2 AMG V8 is no more - I wonder how much the turbos on the new 5.5 Bi-Turbo V8 mute the sound

Thats what I worry about, plus its just not the same.
C63 AMG coupe will be a 2nd hand bargain in 3-4 years

Not a lot, I've heard the CLS 63 AMG (new one) and it sounded pretty much the same. Makes you wonder how Mercedes managed to do it and BMW didn't. Very complicated stuff apparently.
-
I've had the pleasure of driving the C63 AMG Coupe (facelift) and C63 AMG Black Series Coupe on track at MB World and they're very exciting cars to drive, thoroughly enjoyable.
The Saloon C63 can be had for good money and I imagine that'll only become better value in years to come, like the B7 Audi RS4's are now.

Mine is getting registered and tracker fitted on 1st march and picking up on 2nd March. :D
The joys of working for a company with an awesome car scheme in conjunction with Mercedes. :happy2:

I hope that wasn't a brand new car that you took out and took to 145mph.....or is it part of the official run in on an engine like that?

These things really float my boat at the moment , would have to be the saloon or estate for me the coupe does'nt do it for me.
I think I could live with 18mpg given the fact its a 6.2 litre engine, not so sure about all the other running costs imagine what brakes all round would cost you and how much to change a clutch!!
Having said that if you could find one thats just been serviced with new brakes and tyres, then why not run one for a year then sell it on.....

I should have spotted that! :ashamed:

I love the coupe version. Much better looking and sounding than the M3. I've not driven both though, so which one I'd prefer (If I could afford either!) would come down to which was the best to drive.
Has anyone here driven both? (Coupe I mean, not saloon or wagon).
-
Merc have fixed price and I looked into the costs when I was going to purchase, your be surprised how much brakes etc are, shocked me anyway, Merc are nothing like bmw where they shaft people for having the badge, the fuel does that for you :signLOL:
-
Great car, my mate has one.
Only issue is that he says its impossible to control in the wet, especially accelerating!!

That's why a sorted Ed30 will keep on one of these cars tails on the motorway, as the Merc owner can't push it too much harder in fear on loosing control of it :signLOL:
awesome sound, just like a war time bomber :happy2:

We had one in for a little while at work. Great engine and noise, but under 15mpg whenever i drove it, and when you weren't giving it beans, it felt just like a standard C class, nothing felt special about it, not like my RS4 or 911. I felt similarity underwhelmed with the C6 RS6.
Just my tuppence.....

Sure you weren't driving a normal C class? The 63 is on a completely different Planet too RS4 and 911, there insanely fun to drive

I'd say you were scared to drive it cus clarkson makes it look special for sure
-
im very tempted by 1 of these at the min, i wouldnt do much mileage so fuel wouldnt hit too hard and i can get servicing done a for very reasonable price.
and the noise i suppose is 1 of the main reasons
Just have to decide wether or not to part with the Rs as its got low miles and id be going for a 4yo C63 with 40k ish on and my maintenance bills might go up

Ummmmm, let me see, Yes 100% sure. Its not a drivers car in my view, just a great lump of a fantastic engine in a saloon, that is all. Ever driven a C6 RS6? You'll know what I mean, very fast, but nothing to it, just point and squirt. Whereas the RS4 and 911, just felt so much more special in every way, the whole experience was good whether just popping to te shops or going for a hoon.
Its lucky we are all different.......Whats your favourite car and why? - I suspect we like different cars for different reasons.

Oh dear........have you driven one yourself. Please don't use Clarkson to describe a car, the guy can only go sideways, which is what this car is bloody good at. Clarkson left the team of good motoring journalists a long time ago......
I appreciate what it is, but it just doesn't do it for me in the way other cars do/have. It might have a load more power than my old RS4 or 911, but its not all about power.........hence why I have a load of fun in my wife's 300bhp GTi at the moment!

Power is nothing without control......

You can lease a C63 AMG on PCH for around £600 pcm.
Oof. Even less actually. Try costing the price on one on PCP, i think it would cost double.

Yes I was going to buy one, I'm not using clarkson to describe the car, just showing how it far far more fun than a RS4! The reason I didn't buy one is because generally there is nothing in it to 130 between that and my eddie, I'd rather spend 4k on the golf and sort the difference out, I don't a massive V8 that sounds insane or a truly sexy car but I'll be 60k better off, I'd still have one for sure tho just not when the government is shafting US with fuel and tax etc
-
Far more fun in what circumstances though? I do like them but they do kind of look like glorified dragsters! All these videos of massive power slides are all very well but that doesn't translate to everyday driving does it. I still wish BMW had made an E91 M3 Touring.

"i was going to buy one but decided to keep my golf" :signLOL:

Every forum has one!!

I was going to buy a pagani but my TT is faster
-
The merc is all about the presence, noise, effortless grunt, the badge, the comfort. A motorway cruiser. I see the appeal in a non too serious way. I nearly bought one instead of the TTRS. If it wasn't all about performance for me, I would have has the merc instead. More car for your money. Got a c200 blue efficiency and that car is a pleasure to drive in the fact it's so relaxed and a nice place to sit inside.
