I have got a 2005 gti standard apart from a forge dumpvalve spacer. I was thinking of doing a K04 upgrade and was going to ask the guys on here that have done it to theirs.
What do you need apart from the turbo
Is the HPFP necessary?
I would like to run 300bhp is that safe with a k04
-
Yes it is possible, but you would need the DV relocation kit, s3 injectors + A re-map to suit the new turbos needs.
The remap is a must as it is not good or safe for the engione to run without the new map...
If you have the search button on top of the screen, it will be your new best friend :happy2:
Loads of folk have done this upgrade, so that should help you...

or search for James in the members rides as he pushed the BWA engine with a ko4 turbo upgrade & watermeth :happy2:
370 odd bhp :driver:
Have Fun

And if you absolutely want to see how not to do it, search for threads by Sammy... :rolleye:

Have you tried a Stage 1 first? A decent map will see you over 280lb/ft+ from the K03, which makes a huge difference over the standard map. You'll defo notice the difference.
It's all very well chasing numbers, but without spending lots more money elsewhere; brakes, suspension etc. is 300bhp+ too much for the standard setup?
If you go to a reputable company for your K03 map, then find you still want the full K04 conversion, they will no doubt give you a good rate on the K04 map... something to consider, rather than going from stock K03 straight to mapped K04.

For the upgrade, you will need:
Turbo
Injectors
Pipework (dv relocation)
HPFP
TBE
Intake
RS4 FPV
Suitable K04 map
Clutch (unless dsg)
With the above, the car will be good for 320bhp / 320lb/ft on JKM's dyno (and between 350bhp - 370bhp on others). With sounding too obvious, it makes a huge difference (50 - 60 bhp) over the K03 and totally transforms the car. I'd ignore the guys that say 'K04 is more laggy than K03' - it is really not that noticeable (imo) and the extra mid range and top end is amazing :happy2:
As mentioned, James added a boat load of WMI to his K04'd BWA, and hit 363bhp on JKM's dyno, before his BWA went pop (blown piston ring). He now has a CDL with an even more aggressive map and hit 378bhp / 450lb/ft at the most recent JKM RR day. His car is mental!
Other will correctly advise you to look at other supporting mods also - brakes, suspension, bushes, mounts, ARBs, diff, etc.

Thanks for your replies
But i have another question
What is a dv relocating kit?
would it be included in a k04 kit
