R-tech will be hosting another RR day on Saturday 29th December
This is an open meet event for both VAG and non-vag cars and we already have about 17 VAG cars booked for the R-Tech Rolling Road. Non Vag cars and lowered cars that wont fit on the R-Tech rollers will be going on the DynoDaze rolling road next door.
Location of R-Tech
R-Tech Power
Unit 17
Phoenix Business Park
Hinckley
LE10 3BY
The Rolling Road is a first come first served basis and priced at £30 for 2 Power runs including printout.
There will be some high powered VAG cars on the rollers and is sure to be a very good day with loads of cars in attendance
-
Nick was telling me about this last week, should be some big power cars going :happy2:
I'll prob take mine down for a quick health check
-
yeh there should be vag cars producing figures 300-400bhp with Big Turbo conversions.
-
i'll be there in the beast! :driver:
-
Is there space for one more?
I can make this. A bit of a trek, but if you allow 4wd or running in 2wd mode count me in. :happy2:
-
Hurdy - Im sure we have space for you mate, will need to run it in 2wd though.
-
Will you be heading down the M1 Hurdy?
-
Will you be heading down the M1 Hurdy?
Yes. What time does it start and where is the original thread located?
Definitely okay with dynoing 4wd in 2wd mode?
-
Woodall services meet up around 7.30ish?

Yep, whenever I'm mapping haldex stuff I switch it to FWD. just unplug the ABS block down near the battery.
-
Hurdy - Iv ran my R32 in Fwd on the R-Tech rollers, just disconnected the Haldex controller under the rear axle.
Not sure on the Golf R set up, sure Nik will be able to do it

Hurdy, just asked Nik and he said if you can find and remove the Haldex Fuse before going on the rollers it will help as there is a lot of cars to get through so they wouldnt have time to find it, but if we get there around 9am they should be able to have a quick look as first car is going on at 9.30.
meet at 7.30am at woodhall sounds fine mate.
-
arrrrrrrr poo would of had a drive down and met up at woodall services if i had seen this thread earlier :sad1:
-
Hurdy - Just been told remove diff plug and it's fine in 2wd, so can do that on the ramps when it goes on.

That's ok as I've dyno'd mine in the same way in the past. :happy2:
It is just that some Dyno places like JKM will not allow 4WD cars period.....even if you want to run it in 2WD mode!

Nice one, well i'll see you at Woodhall services at 7.30am mate. Gonna have to be up early to juice the r32 up. Do you know if there's a shell garage at Woodhall?

Very happy with my result.... 311bhp and 311ft/lbs
Yours did really well Rich - the torque curve was great :happy2:
Cheers to Hurdy for a passenger ride - or should I say "Launch"
Was a good day, that Leon with 412bhp was impressive :notworthy:
Shame about the miserable weather. . . .

Cool mate, thought it would be! :happy2: Think it's running the full APR stage 3 kit! :pomppomp: Hope everyone had a good day, was gutted I couldn't make it down! :sad1:
-
Dan's Leon has had the APR Stage 3 kit for a few years. Happy for him it's finally running properly though.

Yeah, I knew he's had it for ages but wasn't sure what it was running these days as its well documented over on SCN that he has been having troubles with it for a while! Really glad to hear that it's running properly for him too, must be the ultimate sleeper car! :pomppomp:

Cool. Haven't driven the newer CR170's so not sure how they compare to the PD170.
-
That leon 412 is insane.... it sounds on the dyno like its pulling about 250bhp... first run was 350 on what sounded like 3/4 throttle... then 412
-
Very happy with my result.... 311bhp and 311ft/lbs
Very healthy Rich!
What did Hurdy do then?? Did he run?
Somewhere around 35Xbhp from memory.
-
Somewhere around 35Xbhp from memory.
Thats good for dyno dynamics. How did it run compared to the other KO4 S2+ cars?
I thought Dans Leon was meant to be about 450hp
-
Its not DD its sportdyno
-
Mine did 345bhp and 352lbft
A little less than I thought and had to hand it to the APR cars with about 10bhp more at the top end and 40lbft peak torque more too.
I haven't had chance to fully compare any graphs though yet. Not too worried though as the WMI will be on soon and so onwards and upwards. :happy2:
Great day out with loads of spectators there and over 30 booked on the dyno's. A bit wet, but hey it's December!
Good to meet up with some of the guys off here and put faces to names and chat VAG.
-
Interesting that John, the S3 ran 365bhp and 360ft/lbs down at r-tech when Nick set it up
-
Its not DD its sportdyno
Am i thinking of RS Tuning then. Mix them up all the time.

Oone cupra made ~350bhp and 389ftlbs..... :scared: :scared: :scared:

So i take it we had R-Tec, REV, APR and GIAC maps all up for testing. Id like to see graphs of equivalent stage 2+ setups for them all. Its not often we get to see comparable graphs from the same rollers/same day etc for all the tuners. Its normally just 10 REVO cars and 2 bluefin lol
-
Yes it was a veritable smorgasbord of cars and software. :happy2:
-
Good to see you Hurdy and me you MattO!
Not best pleased with the results, 412 is still 50hp and 50lbft of torque lower than my last dyno run.. perhaps someone else's dyno is lying, or I do indeed have a problem.. time to investigate. :stupid:
Shame about the sh*te weather, apart from that, good day.
-
Dan... that Leon of yours is crazy. Big power... low noise.... what setup and map is it?
-

Hi Rich,
Low noise? are you serious, maybe low noise driving around town but when you on full chat its a straight through exhaust, and mega loud! One of the loudest today.
I have a readers ride thread on here, the specs are on the first page
-
Didnt sound loud to us Dan.... which is why i thought it had only made ~250.... much to my amazement that it made 412bhp. We were all scratching our heads.... :happy2:
-

Indeed that was mine :innocent:

Christ on a bike........... :signLOL:
We all had a giggle at that! :notworthy:
-
Good to see a lot of you there even though i probs didnt get chance to speak to you all. Some very goods cars on the rollers with impressive power figures.
Hurdy - Good to see you again mate and thanks for the spin in the R, cracking piece of machinary.
Feet are still drying out now and after today im thinking that putting the r32 up for sale is a bad idea, loved the exhuast not, the drive there and back.

I recon a forum dyno day at R-Tech would work well, it's fairly central so most folk could get there
-
3hrs trip for me to get to r tech but a forum r/r day sounds a good idea

If you want something organising let me know and i will speak with Nick.

Have you got any peak MAF readings from any VCDS logging? Those figures look good. Also have you altered the actuator at all?
-
Hey Hurdy, Check your E-Mail, I sent you some data from my Car, from my previous dyno run (had a bit more power compared to R-Tech but it does include Data from VCDS) also the actuator has not been tweaked as far as I am aware.
Regards

Just looking over the files now. My e-mail is only receiving data and I cannot send at the moment, so thanks for the files :happy2:

Your welcome  ...Prob sounds like an excuse but when my car was running on the DYNO, my tank still had 95ron left over from my last fill (only 95 at the time zzz)...Pretty sure she could of squeezed a bit more! (Maybe next time!) Took Nick's advice and fitted REV G Diverter Valve which I had spare in the Garage

Just looking over the files now. My e-mail is only receiving data and I cannot send at the moment, so thanks for the files :happy2:
No, that's okay. I was wanting to compare boost and MAF readings as they are the normal yardsticks for power and torque.
I'm beginning to understand why my car may not have achieved the figures I thought they should have. My MAF readings are higher than yours and by higher I mean over 50g/s higher and my boost is similar to yours, however when I looked at my torque request (ie limiter on the DSG box ) it is sat at 497nm (365lbft), which means the engine will limit the torque at this figure and as a result limit the power.
As a rule of thumb every 10g/s calculates out fairly accurately at 12.345bhp. The only substantial variable on this calculation are how lean the cars run and both our cars are running similar actual lambda figures.
I guess further investigations are in order at my end to see if the torque limiter can be upped more.

What about timing advance?
Also with MAF readings I know the Shark maps made much less MAF readings than REVO on identical cars with less boost but made the same power. Some tuners hike up the boost. Others don't.
APR said a while back that in their racing work in the US they are limited with boost so spent alot of extra effort working on extracting power via other routes rather than the usual boost hikes.

Hey Hurdy, Check your E-Mail, I sent you some data from my Car, from my previous dyno run (had a bit more power compared to R-Tech but it does include Data from VCDS) also the actuator has not been tweaked as far as I am aware.

I wouldn't be too disheartened John. Pub talk bull sh*t dynos imo. You know what your car goes like. Is it possible for a car at 345hp to run a quarter time of 12.8 and from what im hearing that has come down too.
-
Jon... i shouldnt worry either... its not like its at the end of its tuning road is it!!
Start getting worried when it does a 13 second 1/4 mile!

I'm not worried Gaz :happy2:
Although I do like to explore every avenue
The R did a 12.61 :jumpmove: last time out at the Pod and that was with 355bhp/320lbft at Statllers. Last time at Statllers it did 379bhp/360lbft, so like for like the car now has more bhp and torque plus all the handling mods to help put the power down more consistently.
It won't matter soon as the car will have the GIAC Extreme race map plus WMI  Golf R's with the same maps are currently running in the 11's :innocent:

Been speaking with Nick about a mk5Golfgti.co.uk rolling road day at R-Tech and what he has said is a TFSI shoot out on the R-Tech Dyno and then other cars like TDi's can run next door on the DynoDaze dyno along with cars to low to get on the r-tech rollers. Maybe around April time.
Let me know if you guys are interested and can look at organising it. Will be £30 for 3 power runs (2 normal shoot out runs and one full load run against the eddy brake and load cell all with AFR)
Could maybe invite some other clubs down like R32oc, R-Tech terrorist squad for a meet.

I'd be tempted with this only trouble is its roughly a 250mile round trip for me

Its a 420 mile round trip to JKM for me
Go for it Nathan, you could get a remap while your up there though to make it worthwhile

very true but then I'll probably need to get a new clutch at the same time :signLOL:

Place next door to R-Tech would fit you a clutch for £150 cash
