Title: What built in extras can be turned on via VCDS?
Post by: andybon on December 26, 2012, 01:04:48 pm
Just wandering what can be turned on via VCDS and is built into the car. Just wandering as when i've done the door lights and boot pop i might as well get them to turn on a few other bits at the same time.

I already have the auto lock feature turned on, What else can be done?

Also can anyone reccomend someone around the North west who has this?

Here's a few:

- rain sensor closing (windows & sunroof)
- DRL'S via fog lights or indicators
- unlock all doors with one touch
- teardrop rear wash (can't remember what this is  :ashamed:)
- beep when lock / unlock
- adjust number of flashes indicator does when tapped once

Also on Mk6 golf / Scirocco from Feb / march 2010 you can activate XDS - all of them have it as standard (dealers charge £240 to fit as an option)

Appropriate hardware needs to be fitted also. CECM, CCM, etc.

As said above, you need the module to do that. It's more of a retrofit, rather than something you can just "turn on"

Like the sound of the auto closing windows and the beep when un lock/lock. What's the tear drop rear wash?

Tear drop is when once you have washed the windscreen or rear window and the wiper has stopped, it will do one last sweep a few seconds later to allow for any drips to have run down the glass.

^^^Mine does that...every time I thought I'd left the rear wipers on!

With the rain sensor window closing does it mean you cannot have the windows open when it's raining?

Yeap, when the car is parked, keys out of ignition, doors locked/unlocked and your windows are open  (your indoors watching TV) and it starts raining. Will close by themselves. Great little touch and really works as well.

VCDS (VAG-COM Diagnostic System) is Windows-based software that allows a PC to act as a diagnostic tool for VW/Audi/SEAT/Skoda vehicles.

Have a look on here. The only place to buy it really....

I bought my cable from Nigel (NHN) on this forum. He can supply a genuine VCDS cable and then you download the software of Ross Tech's website.

A very annoying, pointless and very stupid looking feature. (In my opinion)

- adjust number of flashes indicator does when tapped once

I turn this on via my highline for the 3 flash - so the amount of flashes can be changed as well with vcds?

Cheers

Eddie activated this on mine for me, opened all windows and sunroof and then threw a few drops of water at the screen and they all closed, nice touch  :notworthy:

As mentioned the software is free as long as you have a genuine cable. Best to pm Nigel but I paid £250 delivered a few weeks ago.

I have a VCDS in the Northwest, I could always have a tinker, and see what options your car has to offer  :happy2:
