Title: Steel grey gti
Post by: wattso on December 26, 2012, 04:43:45 pm
Hi all,

So after saying in my 'hello' thread that I'll be keeping the gti standard, you horrible people on here have convinced me to splash out   :signLOL:

Started off with the rns510

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fb30%2Fwattso%2F1B880125-F2C3-47AB-A181-BD8302D5B037-10480-00000501F99AA9E3.jpg&hash=9b2252f2fe730a4db387ca03ea1edd3ed90a7be0)

Then recently treated myself to the full r32 rear setup with non res milltek exhaust

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fb30%2Fwattso%2Fdf5613169136d374568fcdd6d2cb01df.jpg&hash=dc46ba2a69699bdec05445e832d009b62fb8874a)

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fb30%2Fwattso%2F9807830162fe4ee0287c1398f7bcafaf.jpg&hash=486b52849b980b6cbf4c6b59fb9f685746b116dc)

So so pleased with it, I love the look of the gti but have always thought that the rear bumper lets it down, looks like any other golf on the road. Also vet pleased I went with the non res miltek, was very close to going with the res due to concerns around volume levels and not wanting to sound like a boy racer! I can honestly say the non res is perfect! Exactly how the gti should have sounded from factory.

Anyway future plans are to improve handling. Most likely walk kit but possibly go for bilstein b12, but again concerned over ride comfort.

Might look at the brakes in the future as I don't have tonnes of confidence in them, even with my new braided lines.

That's all for now. Thanks

Thanks for the comments.
To the guy asking how much it cost...
I think the bumper was around 400 from the stealers
200 to spray
460 for the exhaust

Not exact figures but as a ball park..

Also just bought some gti mats and a rev g Dv valve from the stealers after reading so much about the dv valve on here

Hi guys another update.

I know these aren't to everyone's taste, but I really like them. Might go down better on the likes of edition 38 than here, but here goes...
They're reps by the way, silly money for real ones.

Guess everyone's been taught by their mothers that if they havnt got anything nice to say then don't say anything at all  :signLOL:

After honest opinions don't either way! Might taken them off as no one seems to like them!

So I've had some H&r coil overs fitted. Highly highly recommend them the comfort is genuinely on par with standard setup! They're a tad too low I think at the moment so will be going up soon.

Anyway some pics from today after my dad and I went for a drive.

Big update!

Out with the old wheels... And in with the new:

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fb30%2Fwattso%2F6031d91c5aff8b6c75437c6c45fa699e_zpsaaf3d9f6.jpg&hash=2c944bbf066f873ed99fc5f1c559437024737a8e)

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fb30%2Fwattso%2Fee08ee5e82ddea52902a4c453d94df6f_zps01572b07.jpg&hash=009c3332557523c908723fc915134f6db91225ff)

Also installed a variety of upgrades that I don't think have been previously menitoned.
Mods list:
forge twintake
Miltek non res tbe with 200 cell miltek sports cat
Blistein coilovers
Walk kit
Stage 2 shark performance remap
Forge hoses throughout
Team dynamic pro race 1.2
Probably more that I'm forgetting

Shockingly I discovered on a recent rolling road session that my turbo has been unplugged since purchase!
( can anyone think why this might be? )

After a quick diagnosis it was plugged back in and put on the rolling road where it made 250 bhp ( the env temp was 26 at this point due to 4 consecutive runs so add 10% and we estimate around 270.)

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fb30%2Fwattso%2Fc72d7dbdc3f4fafe034c88bb66de2f9c_zpsbefdcef3.jpg&hash=b11fb06bb2b1a86e441b37eb5c83fb0bd66e66bb)

Future plans include :
Nqsbbk ( let me know if you know of any for sale )
Retrim of seating in ed30 style half leather.
Also fancy getting my mirrors, and vw badges wrapped in gloss black ( send me some pics if anyone has seen it done before!)
And who knows, maybe even a HPFP and twintercooler  :happy2:

Thanks for reading!
