I have been offered a set of genuine ED 30 Pescara wheels, (refurbed in black) and was thinking of fitting them to my Tornado red Gti.
I am also thinking of colour coding the rear bumper/side skirts etc.
The thing is it will then pretty much look like an ED 30 without the interior and engine (have seen a similar thread over the last few days).
Do you think it is ok to change my original car into a lookalike or should I save my hard earned cash and get a ED30 in the future?

If its what you like who cares what anyone else thinks mate. A car is about your own likes not others. I'm sure it will look sweet

Go for it fella. It's a personal choice, I prefer the colour coded look and having it on my Eddy was just a bonus when i bought mine.
I'm sure you've worked out the difference between these mods and your car plus cash for an Eddy. The recent thread was a different thing all together as you thinking of modifying your GTI, nothing else.
It's a fair bit of work for you or the body shop as all the parts will either need changing to the smooth parts and then painting or all your existing parts will need smoothing and painting etc. IIRC the rear valance is cheap though so that's a bonus.

I was thinking of doing the prep work myself as I have a month of when I get back from Afghan and get the bodyshop to do the rest! I can't really justify the cost of a ED 30 at the moment. My gti has relatively low mileage and has no issues.

I agree with MC71 - Do it, best changes I made to my GTI. I don't think it looks like an ED30 if you keep the original bumper and splitter etc - it just looks like it should have out of the factory IMO.
I used a company (ready to fit panels) that also sell on ebay for my rear valance and front splitter - and in fact they now use the photos of the rear valance in their advert :signLOL:
If you want less hassle then a company like that would work a treat as you don't have to have any of your parts off the car. They can do side skirts too I believe. I'm sure they would do a deal on the lot - great company
Here is a pic of the rear of my TR if it helps convince you. the Ed30 valance is a different shape so still looks very much like a GTI :happy2:

Are they OEM parts they sell? Do you have their website or eBay username handy? I need to replace one of my side skirts as a ran into it with my lawn mower (don't ask) :sad1:

I know the company,spoke to them about an ED 30 front splitter,cost is ridiculous from VW.
Definitely have decided to keep original splitter and rear bumper so it will not look like an ED 30 copy :happy2:
I am still unsure about getting the PESCARA wheels, have been offered these for £400 without tyres, think they are a good price?
Then use my 17 inch Monzas for winter use or I could spend the money doing the colour coding and perhaps get some new wheels at a later date?

I'd say go for it, it definitely improves the looks of the car. No one on here will think your trying to look like you've got an ed30 unless you start putting ed30 badges on it. I see Brookesb32 the other week and it looks really good coded so I'd say do it as it is well worth it
I've colour coded mine the expensive way, votex front splitter, r32 side skirts and r32 rear with osir carbon exhaust trim with quad exhaust.

First thing I did on my white one was buy some Peskys from Gaz..Then purchased a coded bumper.Some Tw4t nicked it before I could finish the coding.

No probs in making the car colour coded, so long as you then don't stick ED30 badges and try selling it as one!!!
TBH I've always hated the black plasticky look of the rear bumpers on standard GTIs. BBS VZs look better than the pescaras IMO and provide a better look.

Great price for Pescara's but I'm with Stelth and prefer the BBS VZ's, that 1/2" makes all the difference ( :laugh:) and they have a better offset which do fill the arches better, standard 18" tyres will go straight on as well. Will cost £200 more than the £400 you've mentioned but they will be brand new and shiney!

Money is tight, after Christmas and I need to get some new tyres as well, so think I will stick with the Pescaras for now. I could always sell them on in the future, I am sure someone will buy them :happy2:

The rear bumper was genuine OEM - I also had an OEM front splitter but they did non gen too.
Not sure about the skirts but someone else on the forum asked so I know they did it.
This is the rear bumper listing - if you call ask for Neal - tell him you were told to ring by Simon who's photos on are their ebay listing - never know may get a better deal - or worse :signLOL:
