Hi there,
I have a golf gti mk5. I was driving home and my abs light came on as well as my traction control (turned off), it wont let me turn it back on. when I got home I disconnected my battery and left it overnight. plugged it all back in and turned the car on. all the lights are still there but now the power assisted steering light is on (Amber). I plugged in a code reader but no codes were stored. I believe this is quite common with a vw golf and just wont a definitive answer.
Anyone Seen or heard of this problem?

Are you close to someone with VCDS?

Not as far as I know. I think there is some one like 40 miles away but he works offshore and this time of year might not be the best time to ask someone to help me out...

Where are you based?
As for the steering wheel light, start the car, turn the steering wheel fully to the left hold for a few seconds then fully to the right, hold a few seconds then straighten the wheel. Drive the car slowly forward in a straight line and the light should extinguish afer driving a few feet.

iirc Baz300 is based that way and has a cable so suggest you try PMing him to see if he can help.

I think smil3r might be offshore just now as he was waiting on a call just before Christmas.
I can do a scan for you.
Are you in Aberdeen city? I'm out in Kemnay but could meet you tonight as I'm going into get fuel from the shell at Bucksburn.

Sorry I didn't get back to you that night. If you could do the scan it would be really appreciated.
