Hello all,
I sold my mk5 golf gti back in October and made the change to an Audi S3 Black Edition. It was sad to see the golf go but i am over the moon with the Audi. In case you didn't know it here is a picture of my Golf Gti.
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fy47%2Fjamesabroberts%2F61fe315e.jpg&hash=1377fc312054d8c6928ae9ca87675539d1262570)
Here is the car when i picked up from the dealer. Fully stock with full Audi service history. :happy2:

The car is well specced but i couldnt live without sat nav after having an RNS-510 so i had a RNS-E and cruise fitted straight away. Thanks to DannyK9 on Audi Sport for help with that!

Next i got the roof and spoiler wrapped in black at Prestige wrap just to make the car look a bit meaner!!
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fjamesabroberts%2FAudi%2F12_zpsdb773a62.jpg&hash=ec96b8db37259632c0677443edf0cb80cc31cae0)
To get the stance sorted i fitted a set of -25mm H&R springs. I am very pleased with ride quality indeed. Is still very good. At some point i want to get the H&R anti roll bars but they will be next year at some point. Also still deciding whether i should put some 10mm spacers on.

Starting to look mean now!!

Next was performamce mods. For Christmas my fantastic mrs bought me autotech fuel pump internals. Thanks to Rob at W8 for those!! :happy2:
I also persuaded my old man to get me a TTS engine cover to keep things looking neat.
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fjamesabroberts%2FAudi%2F6EB61E97-2D5F-4252-A934-B042FA62E3BF-7580-0000056AC74A092E.jpg&hash=49960ae4fd34469382e56e6f235cc786d3080630)
I treated myself to a VWR intake and full Milltek TBE from Awesome when they had their black friday sale.
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fjamesabroberts%2FAudi%2F4A9FA877-1251-497A-B35F-A17FB2268C47-7580-0000056AEB5B0CF0.jpg&hash=624e77ecd1435334c4cad5ee9087abbb291a1564)

Came with a nice authenticity certficate.
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fjamesabroberts%2FAudi%2F38E9B6B0-3019-45A5-82F0-0EAA20003621-7580-0000056ADD754198.jpg&hash=a4defa1ef784eeda1c26635fea4e2d1b794c610a)
Now i just finished fitting the VWR intake this morning. Can't say i was that impressed with the fit. I had to modify the holding bracket and the intake duct as the one supplied didnt fit well at all. I ended up modifying the standard plastic duct and riveting it to the VWR supplied rubber duct. All fits well now but took a long time to get right.
From this:

To this, note i also added an R8 oil cap and Porsche coolant cap.

And that's it so far. Car is booked in to have the exhaust fitted and mapping done on Saturday so will get pictures and info up after that. I'm going straight to stage 2+ so very excited. Thanks to Jussa and Hurdy for advice on mapping. :happy2:
Cheers
James

Wanted my car with recaro's but finding an ibis dsg car with recaro's for the budget i had was near on impossible. Don't fancy forking out £1800 but have found these seats i may look at getting in the Sumnmer. Look very nice. What do you guys think? Might go and have a sit in one at a dealer if there is one local.
Info and prices can be found here, start at £420 each:

-
Looks nice, but I'd want them without the "corbeau" logo..
-
There made to order i believe so i'm sure you could request them without it. :happy2:
-
Absolutely love this :happy2:
With regards to the seats, surely £420 each plus subframe costs, would it not be better to get a set of OEM Recaro's for the little extra it will cost. Then that way you can keep the heated fronts if you can find a pair.
-
I love oem recaro's but they're so rare and when they do come up there about £1800 and they virtuallly always have some slight bolster wear :sad1:

Little update.
My forge spacers turned up yesterday, so i was excited to unwrap them when i got home from work! These should get the stance looking a bit better!
Will hopefully get these fitted tommorow if its not snowing! Pictures to follow! :)
-
Also forgot to add i got some mcguard black edition lockers to go with them! :)
-
This looks a tidy motor James :happy2:
Your drivers seat looks like mine when I use VCDS - wires and laptops everywhere :rolleye:
Did you not fancy some new wheels with a wider stance & lighter mass to aid the speed intentions?
Spacers will make the stance look lovely though
-
Thanks for the kind comments :) Yeah i do definately want new wheels but i just cant decide at the moment what i want!!
-
Yeah i do definately want new wheels but i just cant decide at the moment what i want!!
This is where I'm at too fella. There's some stuff that suits the black 8P A3 an absolute treat, but choosing between them in the right colour too is a headache.
-
Well if you have any ideas mate then get them up as im stumped ha ha. I cant find anything i really ,really like! :drinking:
-
BBS CK, BBS VZ, 3DSM 0.01 have all taken my fancy. As did Nathans (Greeners') R32 Omanyts in 18x8 but wasn't sure on a MK5 OEM Golf wheel on them.
Have a google image search around for some bits and check out the wheel picture thread on here :happy2:
-
Thanks Pete, will have a look at those. I have always like the CK's :drinking:
Even though it was freeeeezing this morning i have cleaned the car and got the spacers fitted. Very pleased with how the car looks now and after a good little test drive i can report no vibrations what so ever, so i'm very pleased. Here a few pictures.

Next plan for the car is to hopefully get the dsg remapped. This will allow higher rpm launches, increased torque limits, etc.
-
Lookin good pal, the spacers make a huge difference the stance :happy2:
-
Cheers Gaz realled pleased with the difference it has made! Thanks for the kind comments! :happy2:
-
Small update.
I always wanted recaro's when i was searching for the right S3 but didn't manage to find one in the spec i wanted at a decent price. Anyway finally got some recaro's and went for the RS4 ones. They are retrimmed in red nappa leather and i'm over the moon with them. Door cards and rears will be done to match once my bank account has recovered a bit.
One of my fav mods so far! They hold you in the seat so much better and look the business. Always used to slide around a bit in the bends, even more so for the passenger who don't have the wheel to hold onto

Hi James, look great, looking forward to seeing them in the flesh on Saturday :happy2:
-
Thanks mate see you saturday :happy2:
-
Seats are fantastic James :happy2:
I really think the spacers bring the RS4's to life and I've been tempted myself, but fancy a slightly wider track so got something on it's way soon. They suit yours a treat though against the Ibis paintwork
