Wanted to have some more 1/4 mile runs after the recent changes so went over to the Pod this morning with Hurdy and was joined by DomT later on.
Just to get things out of the way here are my valid reasons / poor excuses
1 - It was very warm
2 - There was a head wind
3 - The start line was slippery
4 - I am nursing a slight boost leak (New version 'D' DV picked up this morning from the stealers)
5 - I am a rubbish driver
Here's my best run :-
60ft = 2.3911
330ft = 6.0912
1/8 ET = 9.0679
1/8 MPH = 83.34
1000' ET = 11.5504
1/4 ET = 13.7620
1/4 MPH = 104.79
This was against Hurdy and hopefully DomT will be along shortly with the video footage :happy2:
This was about 0.15 seconds quicker than my previous best on the SC Remap.

what your really saying is you wanted to put your foot down :signLOL:

Ohhhhhhh, it was (and still is) a very long day, but worth it for the runs on the Pod and to see what she does now.
My previous best was a 13.602 in February when the weather was very good (freezing!) for us turbo car runners.
I'll agree with 3 out of the 5 for me out of Steve's list
Since last time I've had the DSG map done along with the EVOM's inatake and the change to REVO from Custom Code.
I'm at work at the moment, so I'll get the slip up tomorrow, but my best on the day was a 13.45 with a 107.? terminal speed and a 60' of 2.39. Not bad, but there is still more in there with a better launch, cooler weather and no head wind
Looks like I need some track rubber to help me off the line
-
Looks like you had a good day chaps and some nice consistant times between the 3 of you.. 60ft times aren't really that bad as 2.3's were the norm for mine most of the time apart from the one 2.2 I managed on my 13.1 run.
You can tell the conditions weren't great from your terminal speeds, as with all three of them being Stage 2+ cars I would expect them all to be running 110+ terminals on a good day.. Was chuffing hot yesterday though as my shoulders will tell you... :scared:
-
Here's mine

I think we ought to have a 1/4 mile thread list on the forum somewhere :happy2:
-
^^ So your fastest run was where you got beaten by a teenage girl :signLOL: :signLOL:
(She was driving a proper V8 Drag car on full slicks )

And she wasn't even wearing a helmet!!!....at 144mph!

The 1/4 thread sounds like a good idea, I will try to create something later today :happy2:
-
LIke the idea of 1/4 miles thread - be good to keep some sort of databse of times, drivers and mods on the car.
Dom

I'm sure our local Tech-Bod Steve P could be the man for the job? :happy2:
-
sounds like a good day was had by all.
did you do any logging with the intake?
-
Hehehehe, I think Steve had his hands full. I would have loved to see him setting up the laptop for his runs whilst on the start - :happy2: I know that Steve is really happy with the THS FMIC so far. It's the next item going on my car.
-
good good. glad to hear it. ;)

Hahaa,
Can you feel that modding bug biting hard as you slide down that slippery slope Dom? :signLOL:

Got bitten a while back I reckon. Speaking of mods is your LSD fitted yet or is it still on the kitchen table?
-
:signLOL:
The missis got fed up with it in the house, so it has been tucked away under the house till I can get some time to get it sorted. Looking like Statller's may well fit it for me as they are based in Sheffield, so no big taxi bills
I don't think it will give much on the 1/4 though as NeilM has one plus the same level of mods as mine and he only got 0.01 over me on the 1/4 at Inters.
On a slighty different note.....
What tyres are you running Dom? How did they fare on the launch at the Pod?

LSD doesn't really help much from a stand still.. And for reference I got a 2.26 60ft on my 12.60 run, so nothing wrong with your start really.. Considering im on 235 R888's..
-
Yes, I'm considering going for some R888's. I'm just undecided as to whether or not to go for 235's or 225's. If I go for 235's I get nearly 20mm extra at each corner, but will need the adjustable top mounts to give me some negative camber, so I don't rub. Also going for either VF or Vibratchnics engine mounts too.
I thought my mod list would get smaller as I bought stuff, but I just seem to find more options instead
-
Hahaha - woosh, the slope seems to be getting steeper John! I was running PS2's. I know I have loads of work to do on planting the power more progressively. Was definitely too over zealous with the right foot and even on the best run I got what I would consider to be excessive spin in 3rd. Pod did not seem that sticky at all on the start either on Saturday. Be interesting to see what times people got yesterday as conditions were much the same - including headwind.
You need some R888's, lightweight alloys and the GIAC/REVO DSG remapand you'll be in the low 13's :happy2:
-
What did Ben have by way of mods on his car when he got low 13's?
-
What did Ben have by way of mods on his car when he got low 13's?
Turbo back Milltek and stage 1 Revo, and a steady right foot is worth about half a second too..
-
Thanks Johnny, confirms my thinking that developments need to be more skills based initially than hardware :happy2:

Milltek TBE, ITG Panel Filter and Stage 1 = 13.2 @ 107mph
Milltek TBE, ITG Panel Filter and Stage 2 = 13.1 @ 109mph.
and 13.2 @ 111mph
This was the best launch/60ft I ever got (with road tyres / PS2's)..

Nice one Ben! My first ever run in the Golf at the Pod saw a 330' of 6.5242 - utterly crap compared to yours. Just shows what impact driver input has - well done mate! I got some practising to do.
-
Cheers Dom :happy2: With your list of mods mate and the right run, yours wpould be a 12 sec car mate quite easily I would imagine.. If we are ever at Pod together in the near future i'll gladly take her down if you want?
John was kind enough to let me take his last run in his at Inters and it was good to get behind the wheel of a ED30 again to be honest.. Would of been even better if it didn't double shift when I changed to 2nd and got 3rd straight after. Still managed a 5.7 0-60 and a 13.8 1/4 IIRC.. Without using 2nd!!! Just shows the potential of our motors..
-
Your welcome to try mine one day if we can get you across to the Pod one day Ben :happy2:
-
May just have to get myself down to the next meet... somehow LOL Look forward to it lads  Be interesting that's for sure..
-
Dom, looks like you've got the 1/4 mile fever as well as the modding bug :signLOL:
The prognosis is looking like terminal 12 seconditis :rolleye:

Ha ha :signLOL: :signLOL: :signLOL: Quality John.. I myself can vouch for this hideous disease as I am a terminal sufferer..

I'll not be going to that as I'm on Nights again. Did it this weekend and was completely B***gred for 2 days :sleepy:
