Title: Rejuvenating shiny leather.
Post by: swgti on January 06, 2013, 10:27:40 am
Is there anything out there can can return my front seats to that new "matt" look? The rears are totally immaculate but the the fronts, especially the drivers after covering 80k are starting to look a bit tired.

Also can anyone recommend anything for repairing slight scuffs? I've actually been told that grey shoe polish could be good for hiding the odd mark.

I used the grey bottles from this comany:

http://www.leatherrepaircompany.com/

I emailed them with my requirements, they were really helpful and about 3 emails passed between us as they made sure I was getting the right stuff.

I got kit SKU 00130.

You mix the colour yourself, which is really easy to do, apply it, let it dry. You then apply the laquer/topcoat to which you add a matte element.  You can keep applying both parts of the process until you are happy with it. Its super easy to do.

Didn't take long and it totally rejuvenated my drivers side seat bolster. Its looks like brand new (well nearly) after 9 months.

I must add i'm quite careful when I get in and out of the car not to slide accross the bolsters as thats what makes them wear.

Oh, and on the gti I was selling, I applied the matte laquer to the steering wheel, worked well.

I think it was about £25.  I ended up doing pretty much the whole side bolster to make sure it blended in exactly - which it has. A little tiny bit goes a long way!
