Title: Can't decide on wheels!
Post by: andybon on January 07, 2013, 08:02:07 pm
Right, Sold the wheels that was on my car yesterday and went to look for some new VAG style wheels today. Found 3 sets that appealed to me and can't decide.

Firstly here is a pic of the car.
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.corsasport.co.uk%2Fcarimages%2F10265%2F523419_10151143788853095_636276677_n.jpg&hash=fc50b0509dc17d9940acd3a35c7f502523af31a5)

Here are the 3 sets of wheels I have picked.
Golf R wheels

Audi RS6 Wheels

And the ones which really appealed to me are the TTRS wheels.

Will be going for 18's with a 35mm drop.

Help me choose!

Out of the 3, I like the TTRS ones.

Have you considered bbs ch or even monza's?

To be honest I think any of those wheels is going to look pretty daft on a car that otherwise is completely a standard Golf. It needs subtly lowering and side skirts minimum before I'd even think about spending on wheels.

That is an old picture. It now has tinted rear Windows, there is a rear spoiler to go on and a jetta front bumper too.

On ANY Mk5 the BBS CH's look good, take a look at any Eddy. Look into the BBS VZ's as well (same wheels really). Yes it needs lowering a little. Loads of pics of Mk5's on BBS CH's in the wheel thread.

RS6 wheels on some Mk5's.

What ever you go for it will need lowering to look right.

But out of those 3 1st - RS6, 2nd - TTRS, 3rd - Golf R.

Will be getting lowered very slightly, looking for a 35mm drop on eibach springs.

Really am swaying towards the ttrs as I havn't seen them fitted to a golf on the roads around here, make it stand out from the crowd a little.

Does this not do exactly that?

To me the BBS are aftermarket, after some that came standard on another VAG car.

I love the CH's.
And actually have a set for sale if you were interested, staggered fitment, 9s on the back, 8's on the front.

Pic on my car (granted it's on air  ride, but I have NEVER seen a car that these wheels don't look great on!)

Here's a pic of the TTRS wheels from the "steel grey colours" thread:
