Title: Servicing MK5 TDi Yourself
Post by: chrisr763 on January 08, 2013, 02:09:50 pm
I have a MK5 1.9 TDi on 115k Miles. Would you consider servicing the car yourself? I can change all the filters easily and will have a very good look around the car. ( Car is low so i need to look around anyway  :innocent:)

Any thoughs welcome!  :happy2:

The 1.9 is pretty easy to service yourself. I've done most of the work on My old Touran - just the big things i didnt have the tools for i put it to the garage.

Just seems so silly to pay £140+ for somthing that could cost way less. And when you ask about the components of the Service. Its not a lot.  :fighting:

I started to service my car after getting an itemised quote for a service from a dealer. Parts & labour costs were all listed - I couldn't believe how expensive it all was.

I'd say certainly. Parts can be bought for less than £60, that includes oil.

My local garage charges me £30 and I supply the parts, I think it's worth paying that for him to do it, whilst I sit at work ;D
