abs, traction control lights, lit up on dash, so carried out scan, showed up as 00290- ABS wheel speed sensor, rear left,(g46) 003 mechanical failure.
So i fitted a new sensor, checked the wiring getting a live feed down one of the wires, other seemed ok, so rebuilt and rechecked, reset, lights still on, now getting another message, 00290 ABS wheel speed sensor, rear left,(g46) 012 electrical fault in circuit.
Next day door controller on ns door stopped working so i disconnected the battery for a couple of hours to reset, when i started the car the steering wheel light appeared on the dash, so i carried out basic settings for steering angle, it checked out ok , so carried out Steering limit stop adaption, now the steering is very heavy.
So what do i do now, will the abs fault have to be fixed before the steering will reset?, and any suggestions what to do next regarding the abs fault, dont want to renew abs reluctor ring as part of bearing and expesive unless neccessary, thanks for any help.

Using vcds go to measuring blocks and measureeach wheel then hhit log and drive round to for min or 2 and post upthe log here .
-
Do you mean the abs logs from each wheel? Can get logs tomorrow' did one yesterday' getting identical readings from all wheels except nsr which had no reading
-
Yes. Have you done it again since replacing abs sensor?
-
Yes, did another measuring block check, same again, readings for all wheels except nsr, no reading. And the 012 electrical fault when scanned.
-
If there is no reading on sensor u replaced then you need to double check fitting. Make sure sensor is all the way in which and make sure the wiring is fine. Last check connector that pushes on to sensor as it require ssome strength to get it on properly. Tug wiringand of cconnector comes of sensor then it's not on properly.
-
So do you tbink that because the first scan was mechanical failure " then after changing the sensor the second scan was" electrical fault" this points to the fault pointing to either faulty or incorrectly fitted sensor, or wiring fault, and not the reluctor ring?. And will the abs fault prevent the steering resetting?. Will try to find time today to have a look at it again, the wiring connector was hard to get back on again but I thought I had managed to get it to clip back on' cheers.

Donavan knows his stuff, he helped me with the same kind of issue.
Like he said check the connectors in tight, the wiring is ok and finally check the pins in the sensor (use a mirror and a torch if you dont want to remove it ), the pins are easy to bend if you dont get them lined up properly.

Probably won't get time at weekend , working, so will provide update when time allows, cheers
-
Electrical fault is either a dodgy sensor(again), dodgy wiring or connector not fully pushed on correctly or bent pins.
Mechanical failure is most likely your ring however somthing has changed since fitting new sensorhence a different fault.
I would quickly get under car and take quick look.
However be warned once you solve the electrical fault you may get the mechanical fault back and in this case it will be the ring.
Seeing a lot of these abs rings going recently must be the bad weather lol.

Thanks Donovan, your advice is greatly appreciated, might be Monday now before I get to check it, will keep you informed, cheers.
