Title: 1.6 Golf FSI Cruise Control problem
Post by: andddyyyy on January 12, 2013, 07:44:40 pm
Hey, I have a 1.6 FSI Mk5 Golf, i have been having problems with the cruise control. A few weeks ago the cruise control just stopped working, i would flip the switch on the stick and and no light would com on on the dashboard. I took the stick apart the other day and put it back together just in case it was a loose wire, once i had put it all back together it seemed to be working again so i took it for a drive and it was back to its working ways. The next journey i took it out on the light was on when i started but once i had driven a few miles the light went off again and refused to come on. Its been about a week or so now and at random i've been flicking the switch on to see if there was any life, the light came on once for a split second and went off again and hasn't come on since. Is this a common problem with this model of Golf or does anyone know a solution to the problem? Many thanks Andy

Could possibly be the brake light switch , mine was faulty which stopped the cruise working

Was thinking that but found it weird that it started working the other day after i had taken the stick apart, surly if it was a faulty brake light switch it wouldn't have worked when i took it out for a drive?

the contacts inside need cleaning

if that doesn't work then you need a new stalk
