..and there was me thinking a quality-built German car would be free of rattles. Perhaps not with sports suspension and the terrible UK roads :fighting:
Has anyone ever heard a quiet-ish rattle from behind the dash, only heard on idle and as the revs are coming down on engine braking between 2 and 1k revs?
Also, there's an intermittent rattle coming from underneath the car, checked the exhaust and all is tight and not hitting off anything..it's a similar sound to a pen rattling about in the armrest cubbyhole :jumping:
I suspect it's something loose beneath one of the 'cover panels' that are either side of the exhaust. Presumably these can be removed?
Sometimes I wish I didn't have such acute hearing

I had the most annoying rattle for years that sounded like it was behind the dash/drivers side air vent area.
I found it in the end
Sit in your seat with a torx 20 bit.
Look forward and upwards.
Lower the sun visor.
See if the bracket moves up n down from a loose screw.
It might be the slightest bit loose, but because its metal on metal it really rattles with the smallest movement. :happy2:
I was Really satisfying to have found this rattle on mine.
It drove me crazy.
I wouldn't have ever looked up there to find the rattle. I was convinced it was the clocks or vents.
-
...oh, and check the screw on each visor.
Passenger side was a little loose on mine too :happy2:

Also, Do you have a metallic keyring on your keys?
I had one similar, Held my keys and it stopped.
