-
90,233 on a Feb 06 55 plate. Should be on 84K based on an average of 12k per year, so not too bad. Average mileage will keep dropping as I will be driving my Scooby Forester for work, when I can find one in manual with the Prodrive pack (like rocking-horse sh1t at the moment), Tranny Connect until then.
-
I have a lowline cluster but mine doesnt show outside temp , i have vag com is there a way of turning it on ?
Neil
Ps mine on 117k 1.9tdi with remap

75k on an 05 plate. Had it a few years and it still drives like new, its better than my mrs 2010 cooper S which squeaks and rattles and has done from day one.
-
90k on an 05. Still drives perfectly.
no issues with cars over 100k as long as they have been looked after. find it very odd when people do 1k a year and cry everytime it ticks over another thousand.
-
07 Edition 30 with 48K
-
57 ed30 on 33,500
-
98k on my TDi Sport.
-
Mine is a relative spring chicken compared to some in this thread, 2008 ed30 on 72k
-
2006 '55' plate and 100 miles from 85k. Drives like a dream (touch wood) :happy2:
-
2006 GTI 41K just run in :)
-
March '07 registered. 47,000 miles total, 9,000 by me in 10 months ownership.
-
Yep as everyone would agree , it doesnt really matter if the car is on 180k or 80k at least its well looked after and has had its services on time and taken care of it, then its all fine by me .
-
58 Plate Eddy, just over 20k :ashamed: but more than 15k put on in my ownership over the last 15 months :happy2:
-

....I must admit that as I saw my mileage creep closer and closer towards the 100,000 threshold I did become more and more apprehensive but now it's something to be proud of.
Like your 05er, she feels the same - In fact, even better!
-
coming up to 39k on my Eddie, do about 8.5k a year at mo
-
Just creeping up to 62k on an 07 plate GTi.
-
Just turned over 42k this morning. Still on training wheels
-
just passed 70k .. The oldest car i have owned. :signLOL:
-
105k MY2005 GTI
Do a poll, be interesting to see the average.
-
Nearly 72k on my 05 GTI
-
My 2006 GTi ticked over to 37,005 this morning, 2 weeks before its 7th birthday!
I agree a poll is a nice idea.
-
^^^^
Agreed about a poll.
I suggest making it fairly simple such as being in 20k mile increments up to 200k. So it would typically read 0-20k, 20-40k, 40-60k, etc, etc.
I think it would need to be created by the OP of this thread. :happy2:
-
53k on my 05 plate :happy2:
-
69k on my 06! Ive done 18k in 14 months
think ive been enjoying it too much!
-
Just hit the 70k mark in my 07 Eddie, still feels incredible with no squeaks, rattles or any other sign of old age :happy2:
Whats everyone's opinions on average annual miles these days 10k, 12k less or more?
Like Red Robin's comment, I'm apprehensive of creeping closer to 100k but I'm sure providing she performs like she does now I won't have any issues once I hit it and still enjoy how marvellous the Mk5 Golf really is :notworthy:
-
Just gone through 63k on my 08 plate.
I have never managed (or remembered) to get a pic of a significant number! :sad1:
I found this number last Halloween!
http://instagram.com/p/RcW88kumht/
68k on an 06 GTI for me.
-
Had this on my previous golf. Got in and thought it was weird, just needed 4, 000 less miles! And yes, I know it needed dusting!
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fii603%2Frra18%2FIMG-20110709-00188.jpg&hash=9b1ba1226cf1b31a31cd242f1028eb2698a4cac2)

....I think that there is a psychological element of that 'The Big 100,000' threshold that instills apprehension. It's rather like when you reach 30, or 40, or 50, or 60 years old - You kind of fear it but when you get there you think "Oh well, it ain't so bad" and you realise that there's nothing you can do about it anyway.
It's not helped by some brands of cars absolutely not making it well to 100k and is also fuelled by car salesmen who want to sell you another car. Whether it's right or wrong, your car with a high mileage will be worth less if selling it. It's just market forces.
However, through age, car components will wear and need attention but that's where regular care and maintenance comes in.
As for squeaks and rattles I've had plenty since I had KW-V3 coilovers put on many thousands of miles ago but more recently since adding the UNIbraces and changing to SuperPro polyurethane suspension bushes throughout, those squeaks and rattles seem to have strangely disappeared..... At least for now!
Anyway, once your mind gets in the zone and is focussed on driving enthusiastically, your brain dials out such noises.

Almost 48000 on a 55 plate.
I have done almost 10k in 8 months :driver:
Agreed that a lot of people are put off by higher mileage cars but if a car has been looked after properly then I wouldn't have an issue buying a car with over 100k
-
60,125k on an 06 plate

Nov '07 GTI - just shy of 80,000
I bought it in July '10 with 32,000 and it still feels as tight now (although there are a few extra mods in there to help with that )
I have definitely not been afraid of putting miles on it, but as I get closer to 90-100k miles, I do find myself getting my mates to drive more!

And what a lovely guy he seems to be! The way he talks about his car he could be one of us.
[Note that his car is red ]
-
Where the hell does he drive to? 65k a year every year (~180 miles a day, every day) for the last 46 years! lol He wouldn't be doing that in the UK in rush hour traffic and £6 per gallon!
-

....Very good question but I don't have a clue what the answer is!
I did notice that his driving pace in the vid was rather ambling too. So, how much time has he spent of his life behind the wheel? It doubtless accounts for his portly shape.
-
A friend just told me that he read somewhere once where he a guy in done 1 Million Miles on his Mercedes C or E class one of the old ones and Mercedes took it of him and stuck it in a museum and offer to give him a Brand new Merc for FOC. For Advvertising that the cars are unbreakable

I heard exactly the same story but it was a passat that had the mk2 gti 8v lump in it, no this puts a question to how true it is :sad1:

I know its just a number and if its well cared for then there is no reason high mileage is bad etc etc yada yada but still nice to have a low mileage car IMO... Not enough to put me off using it at every available moment though :)
-
Not enough to put me off using it at every available moment though :)

Attended the funeral of a friend today, victim of cancer at 53yo and a RS4 V8 owner - Live every day as if it was your last.
