Title: VW GOLF MK5 5 DOOR - Front passenger door lock mechanism part
Post by: yosin88 on January 14, 2013, 12:54:32 am
Went to the VW dealers today and got a quote for a left RHD 5 door door lock mechanism - 3d2 837 015k. They quoted me £140.00 for part and to fit it in will be another £95.00.

The part is quote expensive from them so im looking around online to find it cheaper.

I have come across this http://www.euroautomotive.co.uk/vw-c-6/vw-golf-mk5-plus-jetta-mk3-touran-seat-passenger-front-door-lock-p-1166

Not sure if this will fit although different part number from 3d2?

thank you!!

I would keep your eye out on ebay. I picked one up for £30. Obviously you do run the risk of it being another duff one. You can also follow the guide I put together and change it yourself.

£130 inc parts and labour?

because £140 is for parts alone for me and £95 for labour taking it to £235 all in.

They did advise me to sort it before it was locked shut though and £537! ouch!

Sounds like a right pain to sort out then! I was planning to get it off ebay and do it myself or even brand new. However with around £100 difference and me fiddling around for probably a good day to sort it out in the weather with no guarantee that i will sort it out, i may have to take the bullet and send it in to be fixed at £240  :sad1:

Called  up a few chaps who says to be VW specialist they quoting me around £200 inc vat with OEM brand new parts...for the sake of £40 i might just go to the dealers

How long did it take roughly?

Also since it is a common problem, isnt it tad risky buying from ebay and just hoping for a good apple.

First time round I'd give yourself a few hours so you can take your time. Can do one in around an hour once you've done it once or twice.
