I thought there were some tick boxes to enable some of these kind of things so you dont need to manually change parts of the coding. Its been a while since i browsed around it all on my car to remember the exact locations of this stuff.... unless of course this option isnt listed on that tick box bit, in which case, im no help to you at all

Does the siren work? Try setting the alarm off manually.
Common fault that they die. I replaced two in my old mk5.

^^ This. I've replaced mine just recently - just a FYI to OP, they are rivoted into place under the drivers side wheel arch lining. You'll need some replacement nuts and bolts... I just ended up using 6 or so cable ties; holds it strong enough.
If you do a full VCDS scan it will show an error with the siren if one is present.

I had a rental Golf Mk 6 2.5 in Canada recently that 'beeped' when the alarm was set. In combination with flashing indicators the beep is a great tell-tale the alarm is operational.
Is this possible to set on my edition 30? I guess this is what is being discussed here...? Thanks. PR

If the siren is fully operational and VCDS is free of fault codes, then I bet it's on a slightly different byte, I had the same issue with activating the boot pop mod, it's in there somewhere.

Sometimes they have to be long coded in. Mine just turned on after ticking the box, but as for the puddle lights they had to be long coded in.
