Title: Rejuvinating chrome on plastic.
Post by: andybon on January 14, 2013, 04:58:01 pm
Got a jetta front bumper to go on my golf, And the chrome on the front grille has lifted slightly in a few places and is full of stonechips. Also the trim on the 2 lower grilles looks a bit tatty.

I was wandering if there is anything I could buy or do to get this back to "like new" condition. Is there any way of getting it rechromed?

X2. In the same position. Had a few quotes. One over 250!  :ashamed: I will update.

Other alternative is a smooth one from VW directly for about 150

What about wrapping it in Chrome effect vinyl?

Been thinking of it, It's about £10 for enough to do the grille but only using that as a last resort.

Just wandering if there is a better permanant or a good sort of polish you can get.

I have one from when I was toying with the idea of a jetta front. It as holes for number plate bracket, but would let it go if you wanted it for a fair price

might give it a go see how it goes.

Wouldn't really put this down as detailing though

The way the question was posed makes it look like detailing. IF you had asked for another grill or where to buy from it would be better suited in WANTED.

Thats what im guessing  :ashamed:
