Title: Filter heat shield.
Post by: ell.s on January 16, 2013, 10:07:31 pm
Since fitting my neuspeed I have been meaning to fab up a heat shield out of some stainless i can tig weld so the fab isn't an issue im just wanting to see a few designs either people have done or that come with other filter kits. if it goes well i might be able to look at producing few for others interested.

Just make 1 with the main intention of preventing any hot air getting to the filter, so make a box without a top on with a connection to run a cold feed to it or something along those lines

Just to clarify,

Are you on about a heatshield to go around the filter to box it in or one that goes above the exhaust manifold to deflect the heat from the intake pipework,

If the kit is bought new for the mk5 platform you should get an alloy shield that goes over the exhaust manifold yes. But I'm taking it as this guy is talking about a custom filter shield to box in the air filter to prevent hot air getting to the air filter

Sorry haven't been able to reply my Internet has been down. I mean the the to enclose the filter I thought about just closing it in with all open lid and using the factory air vent that the carbonio uses another Idea I had was to then weld a tube in directly under the filter and take a pipe down to the side vent but being a daily I wouldn't want this to fill the filter full of crud.
