Title: Nox sensor
Post by: Timi8888 on January 17, 2013, 10:06:53 am
Does anyone know how long it takes to put a new one on from VW?

I know this is gonna cost a lot, but I left it with VW in Milton Keynes today.

Nox sensor = second lambda, takes 20 mins max to replace including lifting car on a ramp and maybe 10 mins for diagnostics to check values/clear fault codes.

Part cost for genuine bosch item is: £84.00

so any more than 30 mins labour and £90 for parts is OTT

The nox sensor is separate to the second lambda.  Usually only fitted to the non turbo fsi engine.  They are hidden under the long plastic under tray on the drivers side.  30 mins to swap over.

I managed to get a brand new one off the bay for around 125 quid last year.  Google the part number and see what comes up.  It was an old ebay listing I found and after contacting the seller he still had some.

Well basically went to main VW dealers and they charged £90 telling me everything I already knew what was wrong with the car... (broken wing mirror, new wipers needed, top up coolant, airbag light on due to non standard seats etc)...

I told them there was a misfire, and when they looked they couldn't find anything. Driving it home the misfire was still there! They also said they had trouble with my car as it was lowered and couldn't get it onto the ramp, when it has been on about 5 other ramps and never had a problem!

Gonna go back tomorrow and complain really!

Left it with them for the day! lol

When I went to pick it up after work, they couldn't even sort out the misfire or diagnose it?!  SHOCKING!
