I know most of you will be sick to the back teeth of seeing (let alone hearing the word) snow, but it would appear (as usual) that most of the country is going to come to a standstill this afternoon, so who has it worst?
I'm in Lincoln and we are just on the cusp at the minute (so about to get hit). What should we expect guys (from the ones who have already been affected)?
Any pics would be a bonus too..
Kind regards,
A worried BMW owner on summer tyres :scared: :signLOL:

We have a seriously huge amount of snow in Birmingham. Luckily i dont need to go out in the 1er, and walk to work at the moment.
-
6 inches and more to follow in Southampton :innocent:
-
Its being snowing (light 'whispy' snow) since 9.44am in central London.
-
Hope it clears in my area if it batters down, got a courtesy car next week whilst my car with snowtyres is in the bodyshop.
-
Couple of inches so far in Essex, I'd rather be out in the Track car with 888's than the 335i
My 17yr old daughter passed her test a couple of weeks ago and is driving home now :scared:
-
I was one of the last to leave work at 10:30 - I almost got stuck going up the driveway, and then did get stuck on a steep hill driving home - luckily some kind people stopped in a 4x4 and helped me

Yeah had a light dusting but has eased off now.
-
Working outside of Solihull was pretty bad. As I cleared the windows/lights/plates of any snow, I another half inch on top. Driving home was great with winter tyres until I hit the B-roads in and around Birmingham. Some proper nutters, gridlock etc. Took me three times as long to get home.
-
Coming down nicely in Shropshire :)

-
Light dusting in Thurrock that's set but its not even 5mm deep. Might be a different story in the morning.

5.5 Inches of snow in South Birmingham.

Had a pretty uneventful journey home from Nuneaton. A couple of people smashed at the side of the M42 though.
I only had a problem on the last mile to the house, so I whipped these out:

Not easy to get my hands in the arches to get them on though but work really well.

Snowed quite heavily in portsmouth , luckily everyone had gone home by the time i finished work so my usual 45min journey home from work only took 30 mins

3 or 4 inches in Berwick upon Tweed. Lots of heavy snow and hail showers blowing in off the North Sea , only just managed getting my car back into its garage as that road in the estate is never gritted.
-
Lots here, about 4 or 5 inches, I guess. Went out for a drive after taking this pic...

A good few inches in Dudley/Wolvo too. Witnessed some real bad driving. Felt sorry for some but got to ask if people are that scared of driving in these conditions should they even be on the roads?!
Really impressed with the traction I got with my Michelin Alpins. Had real confidence in the car accross every road I travelled! It's going to be expensive going forwards, I will want winters on every car I have!
Also thought this looked a bit cold...

Well I love the snow love driving in it too. Golf is surprisingly quite good in it! We have had a lot of snow here in Kelso some places it's drifted to over a foot high.

Wouldn't want to be around when it starts melting though!

Coming down heavily in the North West. It's put a hell of a lot down in the last 2 hours.

No snow here but loads of white stuff on the ground. I think they call it sand :)

Weather forecast said slight chance of a sprinkle in Warrington. We have had 4 inches this morning in the last 2 hours and it is still coming down really heavy. :scared:

We had snow in St Ives overnight, about 10mm

Passed my neighbours brand new Z4 stuffed into a wall this morning :sad1:
It's bad in Huddersfield, but I love it! It's so much fun

.
All the snow has gone from here in coastal West Dorset and the sun is out amongst a soft cloudy blue sky. It's 0 degrees C.
My German weather App called WeatherPro predicts sleet tomorrow but no snow so far.
-
3 inch overnight (topping up the 2 inch we had Sat) in my part of Lancashire, which is great.
My son is gutted that they didn't shut his school, I am also, wanted another day of sledging
It's still snowing now so it's going to be fun when I pick him up at 3pm mass snowball fight and 3 hours of sledging - yippee :jumpmove: then off to warm up in the pub

Having got some handmade German Meindl walking boots last October I would probably look at the Meindl range first but we don't get too much snow down here on the coast (thank goodness!) and so there's no point. My Meindl's are category recommended up to the tree line - I'm not interested in climbing any higher!

Finally got a bit of snow overnight, only an inch or so but enough to have some fun in!

Apparently it has been all over the news, so i hope they do get a fine. Takes 2 minutes to clear a car of snow, no excuse for driving like that (on a motorway especially) at all.
-
I actually passed a woman in a 1-Series this morning who had carved a porthole in her window - nothing more. Peripheral vision must be non-existent.
I must say, i really enjoy driving in this sort of weather, but the behaviour of other drivers is rather worrying.
-
Snow's melting here. Gonna go out in a bit and scrape the last of the hard packed stuff off the driveway, as the missus needs to go out tomorrow morning.

Still coming down here, has given out freezing temps tonight and more snow tomorrow for us

Apparently Police in Bradford are issuing fixed penalties of £60 + 3 points for snow on the roof of your car.
-
^^^Good. People don't think about the snow on the room and how it can fall off in chunks into the path of the cars behind them.
I saw muppets with headlights on but snow covering them. I saw cars similar to the audi with just the windscreen cleared. These people are dangerous in snow. God knows what they're like in normal driving conditions.

We've got more light snow coming down in my part of Lancashire today :jumpmove:, its been fairly steady since I dropped 'junior' at school, with more forecast for Friday :pomppomp:
The school have been quite 'cool' about the snow all week, they've let the kids bring sledges, to sledge down the hill towards the playground (it must be like ten pin bowling) they've also made a 'snow family' (PC) an igloo & let them make and throw snow balls - thankfully the H&S lot  haven't spoilt it for these primary school kids
-
I'm in Stavanger (norway) for work the now and theres not a drop of snow yet its minus 10! due home this weekend though... bet its all gone! lol
-
Some light snow has started to fall in central London. Doesn't look like it will settle though.

I enjoyed my two weeks of freezing, but calm and dry, in Bergen. West coast Norway is the wettest part of Europe so take it whilst it's going!

I'm at NOV on a course *yawn*
-
Small world, just been on a medium term project for NOV - not sure what their international staff are like but in my case it definitely stands for Norwegians On Vacation.
-
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA... thats so true!
What project was it? who do you work for?
I'm a NOV service engineer out of the UK
-
It was the Trym conversion, I work for a small contractor in Norway but we have installed the new drilling package.
-
ah ok cool.
dont tar all the NOV engineers with the same brush as the noggies.. we're grafters from the UK.. we get all the sh*te no one else wants! lol
-
Yeh I know bud.
I've been there a long time and know that Norwegians on the lower side of average often get good jobs due to the small population :happy2:
-
they're all lazy sh*tes! lol
-
My work has a small plant here (dominion gas) I'm over to train new staff.
I spent 18 months here from summer 2009 and know all too well what the noggies are like for work.
Most people come to work for us to gain oil industry experience then get a job offshore but back in the UK my experience means nothing for trying to get a job offshore.

No snow or ice in my neck of the woods down in southwest and so as she hadn't been taken out of her batcave (garage with no electricity) since the snows started I drove her down to the local beach.

Car felt very responsive indeed in the cold air.

My work has a small plant here (dominion gas) I'm over to train new staff.
I spent 18 months here from summer 2009 and know all too well what the noggies are like for work.
Most people come to work for us to gain oil industry experience then get a job offshore but back in the UK my experience means nothing for trying to get a job offshore.
its a funny old world.. you' could be the best qualified person in the world but if you've never been on a rig, no one tends to look at you.. but if you can hit heavy sh*t with a hammer and have stroked the rig dog at some point they'll throw jobs at you...

Don't you think snows the only thing that can make certain parts of Birmingham look pretty nice though

Yeah, I guess so. But enough is enough. My mortgage offer expires on may 20th and I don't want to have to reapply from scratch. So our house needs completing by then.

If recent years are anything to go by, we'll have some more in feb, march or even April. I don't think winter has finished with us yet.
Bit of a laugh all the disruption, when its these sort of temps for months: http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/6185377

....Redditch! It's a long time since I have heard that place mentioned - Droitwich too. I went to Bromsgrove School but haven't been back to that neck of the woods for a long while.
Meanwhile, it rained all night but it's now bright blue sunny skies here today, Saturday, in coastal West Dorset :pomppomp:

Apparently Police in Bradford are issuing fixed penalties of £60 + 3 points for snow on the roof of your car.
Standard, never miss a trick do they....

Sunny here. Only little bits of neige left where it has been piled up by drive clearing exercises.
-
Sunny in cornwall too :happy2:
-
They're recommending we build snowmen/igloo's/pile and compact snow where I live to try and slow down the impending thaw
Out driving this morning and saw there are already so many roads with deep, lying water.
-
Lots more snow in Bolton. My car is stuck as the estate is bad!
Had a very random night last night, walked to the local train station to give my brother some walking boots at 10pm-ish. Another guy got off (he was from london) and was meeting friends but was stranded at the station as no taxis were running. So me, my brother and my girlfriend walked him the 3miles to his friends house as he had no idea where he was and his phone battery died. We also helped push about 5 cars who were stuck! We got home at 1am :signLOL:
-
^^^credit to you, for helping out a stranger! You're a good egg!
-
Nice 1 Joe, not many of you left for doing that :happy2:
This is all that is left in our road!
