Title: One VW key unlocks two VWs
Post by: Nasir on January 20, 2013, 10:21:53 am
This is very odd, my sister has a MK5 Golf, her car wasn't close by and she accidentally hit the unlock button. It unlocked my brother's MK4 Golf. We've tried it again and the fob can lock and unlock the car.

This can't be safe, how can it be solved?

Or get her to steal the Mk4 and drive it off a cliff (she would jump out at the last minute like in the movies). It won't matter then if her fob unlocks his car as it'll be on the sea bed.

That's really surprising, thought they all had very different codes. :surprised:

But I suspect the key won't start the ignition. IIRC there are only a set number of codes for radio unlocking.

I had exactly the same problem with my mk4 anniversary along with my brothers mk4 anniversary... My key would open and lock both cars???????????
